A Film about Coil Winding Machines called Coil Winding Machines
JoeytheBrit23 June 2009
The synopsis of this film, which is provided by the Library of Congress, pretty much sums up everything this film is about in its entirety - which is probably why I'm the first out of 36 people to attempt to leave a review.

There's not a lot you can say really. The film was shot by Billy Bitzer, the future cinematographer of D. W. Griffith, and the camera is positioned quite well so that it captures the front of one production line and the rear of the next, meaning that we can see all aspects of the production process. Not exactly sure what is on the coils however - cable maybe?

Coil Winding Machines (1904)

During the early 1900's Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company made a number of industrial films that allowed the public to see what went on inside their buildings. Needless to say, these films didn't contain any sort of plot but some might find them interesting.

This here will make a good comparison to COIL WINDING SECTION E, which showed the women at work. This one here has a wider shot of the worker area and shows the machine sitting at the back of the women, which is feeding them the coil. Again, the first minute of this is fascinating as it gives us a chance to see how the operation was done but there's really not much else that happens so the film grows tiresome as we continue to see the same thing over and over.
