Spanish comedy by expert director Fernando Colomo with humor , fun , amusing situations and nice players
ma-cortes31 May 2014
It revolves around a worker young Domingo (Daniel Guzman) and his friend ; the protagonist, a typical lower-class worker and all around nice guy friends (Antonio Molero) struggling with teen sex . Most of the plot involves their numerous failed attempts to have sex and lose their virginity . Our main character is a cleaner in a mall along with Marcial (Saturnino Garcia) , he meets a girl named Lisabeth (Diana Galvez in her last picture because she died in a crash) and is immediately attracted to her , and he then poses like a wealthy boy . But she results to be an actress with no money in a reality-show , whose love story with Domingo is being recorded by TV reporters (Blanca Portillo and Francisco Maestre , early deceased by stroke at 53).

This is another teen sex romp , it is a fun comedy that contains lots of humor , entertainment and amusement . This is a slightly funny film with entertaining events , giggles , emotion and a love story . The film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable, with more traps the viewer resists any kind, and some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few embarrassing . The flick gives a short description about lives of people of lower classes in the Madrid slums . This is a typical Spanish comedy from the 90s with the usual ingredients such as enjoyable humor , social habits and relationships among people . My feelings are extremely mixed but I must admit there are things I haven't been able to stop thinking about , the first part is played mostly for laughs as the boy get into scrapes trying to score with the girl . A few of the scenes are amusing , they elicit chuckles but no serious laughter . The picture attempts to spread optimism about the events of life , friendship and love , including its amusing sides . The roles in this film are all lovable despite being rather pathetic and silly . The main issue about the continuous meetings and ongoings disagreements between the protagonists and the reporters who are filming them is so repetitive and that makes it a bit boring and the most part results to be rich in absurdities and implausibilities . Sympathetic performances from main cast , Daniel Guzman and Diana Galvez , both of them provide a considerable boost to the result . Furthermore , a very good support cast such as Antonio Molero , Joaquin Climent , Javier Camera , Saturnino Garcia , Blanca Portillo , Monica Cano and special mention to Javier Camera in charge of casting , too .

Atmospheric and appropriate musical score by Julian Brennan , plenty of catching songs . Evocative as well as colorful cinematography by Javier Salmones , a notorious cameraman who has photographed important pictures such as ¨13 curses¨, ¨Butterflies tongue¨ , Romasanta¨, Diary of a nymphomaniac¨ , ¨The Possession of Emma Evans" , among others . The motion picture was professionally written and directed Fernando Colomo , though with no originality . Fernando Colomo was born in Madrid and is a talented and versatile writer/director who has made a vast array of often solid and entertaining films in all kind of genres as comedy, drama and one science fiction movie (1985 El caballero del Dragón) in a career that spans over 30 years . Especially known for directing comedies such as 1987 La Vida Alegre , 1988 Miss Caribe , 1989 Bajarse al Moro , 1993 Rosa Rosae , 1994 Alegre Ma Non Troppo , 1995 Efecto Mariposa . And in the 2000s directed Al Sur Granada (2003) , El Próximo Oriente (2006), Rivales (2008) and La Banda Picasso (2012) .

A nice mix of comedy and drama
MRBICKLE16 April 2009
Fernando Colomo keeps using the same comedy pattern in practically every film he does; this isn't necessarily a bad thing, because sometimes it works perfectly and the lack of originality isn't noticed. In this case the results are simply decent, the usual mix of romance and bitterness with funny moments that worked so well in "Bajarse al moro", but that here never gets to fascinate like it did in that movie.

The film follows a plot structure already seen and done a thousand times and frankly, sometimes it gets boring and tiresome. The movie works because of some really good moments, excellent secondary characters (like Cámara) and a very good cast. But obviously the film won't make history.
