The Ring 3D
Paramount is in talks with Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind") to pen the next draft of "The Ring 3D," the third chapter in the horror franchise. Goldsman recently did a rewrite of "Insurgent," the upcoming sequel to "Divergent". He would take over from David Loucka who penned the earlier draft of the F. Javier Gutierrez-directed sequel in which the infamous video tape strikes terror yet again.
Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go
Jamie Linden ("We Are Marshall," "Dear John") is set to pen the screenplay for Lionsgate's potential franchise starter "Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go" based on the 2008 Patrick Ness novel. Linden takes over from Charlie Kaufman who originally adapted the screenplay, while Robert Zemeckis remains attached to direct.

Exclusive: Lionsgate has bought The Three Tenors, an ensemble comedy spec by Johnny Rosenthal that will be produced by Patrick Aiello. Think A Night At The Opera meets Anchorman here as the comedy traces the rise and fall, and then another rise and fall and then rise, of a fictional trio of internationally beloved operatic superstars. This sounds pretty good; I always wondered why Adam Sandler never turned his Opera Man character into a feature.
Erik Feig, Co-President of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, and Summit Evp Production Meredith Milton acquired the project and are overseeing for the studio. Rosenthal recently wrote Bad Santa 2 for Dimension and Iron Jack for Sony. Aiello just produced the Legendary Pictures/Universal thriller As Above So Below that will open August 28 and he is in production on director Kevin Reynolds’ first-century epic thriller Clavius, which stars Joseph Fiennes and Tom Felton. London (Reuters) - Indian-born conductor Zubin Mehta is touring the world with the Israel Philharmonic celebrating its 75th anniversary and his 50th with them, but what he'd like to do is add more Arab capitals to the repertoire.
Mehta, who is the same age as the orchestra which gave its first concert in 1936, said as he prepared to conduct a concert at the BBC Proms in London on Thursday night that the Arab Spring has thrown up new challenges, and new opportunities, for Israel and his Philharmonic.
"One wonderful thing is nobody is blaming Israel for anything that is happening in those Arab countries -- usually it is always Israel's fault," Mehta told Reuters in a telephone interview from Israel a few days before the Proms concert.
"I hope Israel takes advantage of the new regimes to come close to them and that the new regimes will...

Keith Miller was headed for an enviable position in the NFL-until the velvet-voiced gridiron star was serenaded by the opera. He talks to Eve Conant about exchanging his helmet for tights.
Meeting Keith Miller for the first time backstage at the Washington National Opera, in a black kimono and Japanese Tabi slippers, he comes across as a gentle performer with a voice that impresses, even when just speaking quietly.

But if you were to look at his old driver's license? In that hulking mug shot is a man who weighs 265 pounds and sports a menacing Fu Manchu goatee. The photo barely resembles the now 220-pound budding opera star who will sing a commanding solo when Madame Butterfly opens in the nation's capital next week. If there is a disconnect, it's because Miller's rise in the rarified world of opera...
