The previous 1976 Pink Panther cartoons have been entertaining but have ranged only from just above-average to pretty good. Apart from the somewhat predictable at times story and the rather ugly character design of the horse(personal opinion once again), Pinky Doodle was very good. It is the best animated of the batch, yes with some hasty-looking backgrounds and the horse's design but Pinky is again very well drawn and the colours are very vibrant. Pinky Doodle is also the funniest of the 1976 Pink Panther cartoons, the ending will make you laugh out loud but faring best was the gag with various body parts of Pinky swelling up with water, that was a hilarious and well paced gag and had the cleverest animation of the entire cartoon. The cartoon also has the best-paced story with not a lull in sight and the music from the classic theme tune to the rousingly jazzy incidental scoring is fitting with the action, is recognisable without feeling stock and it's pleasant to listen to as well. Pinky is a cool and likable character that you actually feel sorry for here, while the horse is a very funny foil here on the whole though his laugh in the water gag is a little grating. Overall, a very good and fun cartoon and the best of the 1976 batch for the Pink Panther. 8/10 Bethany Cox
