The title character is aptly named and, to me, thoroughly unappealing

Not a bad cartoon, but one of two (starring the same character) that I don't like much. Good use of limited animation, but Pete Hothead is a most unlikable character, which is the point, I suppose. For UPA completeists, though others might not find the character so irritating. Think Donald Duck without feathers and clearer speech.

Pete Hothead is a worthy UPA cartoon

Just watched this UPA cartoon on the DailyMotion site as linked from the Cartoons, Model Sheets, and Stuff one. In this one, the title character is entrusted by his wife to take care of a visitor named Marmaduke. He doesn't want to but the real trouble comes when the deliveryman delivers a parrot instead of the radio Pete ordered from the store. Naturally, he goes there to exchange...Quite funny though the character's surname tells all you need to know what to expect. Still, there's also Jim "Mr. Magoo" Backus as a floorwalker that's also worth hearing and looking forward to. So, yes, that's a recommendation for Pete Hothead.
