Algiers 1942
dbdumonteil3 July 2010
Algeria was ,till 1962, a French colony. So in 1942,the country was occupied by the Germans and in Algiers they call this "Commissions D'Armistice" .Partisans ,helped by the American consulship, try to make the landing of the American troops easy. They succeed in their mission and "Franklin" arrives and it's one of the first defeats of the Nazis.

Although there are fictitious characters ,the movie is given a documentary treatment ,looking sometimes like a "longest day" in miniature.Too much voice over may be irritating in the long run.But the cast is good, particularly Jacques Castelot as the collaborator ,a role generally given to Marcel Dalio.
