Predator is a film in which nearly every character is killed. It doesn't matter if you're Carl Weathers or Jesse Ventura, you're dead. The first to go, however, was the man directing the new Predator movie.

Los Angeles – Old time, 1950s television had its share of break out stars as the medium found its footing as new entertainment. Hugh O’Brian, who starred in the ABC-tv series “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp,” was one of those stars. The actor, who was also known for his Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation – nicknamed Hoby – died of natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills, California, on September 5th, 2016. He was 91.
Born Hugh Krampe in Rochester, New York, O’Brian followed his Marine Corp father officer into the service, becoming the youngest drill instructor in Marine history at age 17. When he moved to Los Angeles in the early 1950s to attend UCLA, he was “discovered” by actress/director Ida Lupino, and landed his most well-known role as Wyatt Earp in 1955. After that series ended in 1961, O’Brian took a series of character roles in movies and television.

Wrestling fans love learning about the first time something memorable occurred. Being able to go back into the history books and point out the first instance of a moment that continues to this very day makes fans appreciate what the modern day wrestling programs are able to present them. Imagine a time before the first theme entrance was played, or a time before anyone even thought of putting a wrestler through an announce table. These moments, and many more like them, are so commonplace now that it’s hard to imagine there being a time when they didn’t happen.
So in honour of those first moments in professional wrestling, here are fifteen matches which just happened to feature quite a few landmark firsts. Fair warning: the majority of these moments are firsts for World Wrestling Entertainment, and the exact dates for the first time anything happened tend to be up for debate.

RuPaul's Drag Race shocked us last night, and not just because it staged a ballet based on the exquisite life of its star. Ru dared to eliminate both of the lip-syncing queens who flunked the performance challenge, and thus, we lost two ferocious contestants this week. The first to go -- and the less expected evictee, based on her standing last week -- is Vivienne Pinay, a.k.a. 26-year-old Michael Donehoo of New York City, who touted her good looks and comely femininity, but couldn't quite redeem her performance in the ballet as "America's Next Drag Superstar" or her uninspired lip-sync of Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did It Again." At least she's in good company: Her competitor Honey Mahogany was also eliminated, and we talked to her as well about the dramatic episode. (Editor's note - We'll have Honey's interview tomorrow morning).
But first: Let's catch up with Vivienne Pinay about the competition,...

Chicago – In the days when there were only three networks and less remote controls, TV stars were fewer and fame was rarer. Both Hugh O’Brian on “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp” (1955) and Sherry Jackson on “Make Room for Daddy“ (1953) achieved some notoriety in those early days of television.
O’Brian and Jackson appeared at the Hollywood Celebrities & Memorabilia Show (now called “The Hollywood Show”) in 2011, and HollywoodChicago.com was there to interview them, along with photographer Joe Arce, who captured both stars in Exclusive Portraits.
Hugh O’Brian, “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp”
Hugh O’Brian, next to James Arness of “Gunsmoke,” was one of the biggest western TV stars in an era when the networks were flooded with horse operas. “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp” debuted in 1955 on ABC-tv, and ran for seven seasons as a top rated show. O’Brian also made movies,...

Neil Ira Needleman is one of the most prolific and stylistically diverse filmmakers working in the independent and underground film worlds today. Yet, because of that diversity, his work tends to fly under the radar, catching audiences unaware at the dozens of film festivals he screens at every year.
Becoming familiar with Needleman’s films, one can at last start to piece together a consistency in his authentic documentation of a reality that may or may not exist. But, perhaps, an emphasis on “may not.” Although he began his career working with Super8, he now works exclusively in video, giving his films an immediacy and an air of authenticity that the filmmaker can completely subvert at will.
Drawing upon a broad range of personal experiences, such as his Jewish heritage and his long career working in advertising and marketing, there is always an element of emotional truth even when it...

Shawn Levy has spent much of his career earning scorn from critics for his output, essentially all of which is director-for-hire studio material. However, a fair amount of good buzz has been going around for his next movie, Real Steel; because of this sudden change in reaction, it only makes sense that he would want to continue working in a new world that he’s helped to build. Details on a sequel were already slipping out in April — mainly that screenwriter John Gatins had been hired to begin work on the follow-up.
The basic plans were confirmed to ThePlaylist by Levy himself, as he told them that “the studio’s faith is very strong,” so he’ll return to “produce and direct again.” His explanation of where things might go can be read below:
“[...] Dakota [Goyo], Evangeline [Lilly] and Hugh [Jackman] are all a big part of the sequel. It is the same characters,...

Call it Extreme Studio Makeover.
Rich Ross, installed by Disney CEO Robert Iger as chairman of Walt Disney Studios last Oct. 5, might as well have hung out a sign reading "Undergoing Renovations" at the Burbank lot from his first day on the job.
Following a mandate laid down by Iger, Ross has set about shaking up the studio's film operations, which had been in a slump, even as Disney itself plans to make fewer pictures.
He swept out top production and marketing executives, shut down several movies about to begin filming and began courting such distinctive filmmakers as David Fincher and Sam Raimi who hardly fit the existing Disney mold.
As luck would have it, he also inherited a couple of movies -- "Alice in Wonderland" and "Toy Story 3" -- that the studio turned into worldwide blockbusters, even as the new marketing team were settling into their jobs. In the process,...

May 31, 2010:The media thrives on the word speculation. However, it’s not our job to speculate. We primarily report, what we hear. And, what we’re hearing this time that Colors and Creative Eye show ‘Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam’ might end soon.
As always, its low TRPs that spell the death knell for any show.
“Earlier, there were thoughts of shifting Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam to the 7.30 pm slot once ‘Swarg’ goes off air. However, Colors have not one but two prime time shows waiting in the wings. The first to go on air will be Swastik Pictures untitled love saga. Thereafter, Hats Off production will.

It was elimination night on American Idol last night, and congratulations America, you did yourself proud. America got it right last night, with three out of the four people they sent home being, as Simon Cowell would put it, a "no brainer." We were a little sad to say good-bye to Ashley Delamore. But we're not gonna lie, it has more to do with her pretty curls than her pretty vocals. We said goodbye to the boys first last night. The first to go was John Park. Truthfully, we were surprised John was even given a second week because his first performance, a bizarre rendition of "God Bless the Child," was so awful we were sure we'd seen the las ...

We're baaaaaack… and it feels so good! Might as well start at the beginning. Last night's two-hour premiere was one of our best ever. In fact, it was so good I think CBS should air it again. In the words of our fearless leader Mark Burnett, "It was epic!" It started with the kickass marooning where the Survivors landed on the beach courtesy of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and their Huey helicopters. Insight: We had to get special permission from the New Zealand government to get the use of the Huey's and the Air Force personnel to fly them.

Angels with machineguns? More like ex-angel with machineguns. As in, one lonely angel against the armies of God. Who ya got? In this case, the fallen angel is one Michael (Paul Bettany, taking a break from more high-minded stuff to go genre), who has gone rogue in order to save mankind. As Michael relates, God has given up on us lowly humans, and has sent his angels down to Earth to take out the trash. It’s not an apocalypse, with rain, fire, brimstone and all that good stuff, but more of an extermination, and the angels are God’s exterminators. The first to go are the weak-minded among us, who are taken as vessels by the angels to do the dirty work. So basically you’re screwed if you watch the E! Channel for more than 10 minutes a day, or thinks “Two and a Half Men” is funny. Zing!
