There are many film hybrids incorporating porno elements in otherwise straight movies, but the late Buck Adams' UNINHIBITED is extremely offbeat. It fails in either camp, but is interesting as an experiment.
The odd-looking porn star had scored big as director with his XXX Babewatch video series, cleverly casting buxom Rebecca Wild as a most welcome substitute for Pamela Anderson. Unique in his filmography is this relatively big-budget (for its genre) action film, employing primarily porn talent but with only minimal hardcore content.
My best guess for what brought about this project is the credits for producers Todd & Jonathan Blatt. Todd is a softcore "Skinemax" veteran who latterly has raised his sights and most recently produced a vanity project (or two) for Al Pacino. Jonathan produced several XXX Joe D'Amato films with an L.A. locale. Apparently the money was really flowing circa 1995 for porno chic, accounting for this 1-shot by Adams.

Something of a vanity project itself for Buck, he toplines as over-the-hill police Det. Gunn: overweight and a drunk. His partner Jordan (porn superstar Sean Michaels, who was also appearing in the D'Amato films at this time) is killed when the two of them raid a drug house, with half-mast Gunn unable to protect his partner.
Fortunately for the fans, opening sex scene spotlights Michaels and his long dong, shtupping his wife Dominique Simone (billed simply as "Dominique") in a very explicit XXX scene that is misleading for what follows. Basically the 96-minute running time would still exceed 90 minutes if all the hardcore footage were excised. Conversely, had UNINHIBITED contained the requisite amount of lengthy XXX scenes fans were paying for in '90s videos, it would have run at least 2-1/2 hours in total.
Also surprising is the terrific lighting and styling here: I can't recall Simone looking this beautiful, even in an Andrew Blake outing. So UNINHIBITED does gives us a glimpse of the quality porn might have aspired to in its heyday had bigger budgets been forthcoming.
Plot revolves around the marriage of convenience of two crime families, the Escobars based in Colombia, with kingpin Robert Miano (straight character actor, oddly cast as the Spanish rather than the Mafioso chieftain here), and the Gambinos in Palermo, Italy, whose head is never shown, but whose son is none other than Euro super-duper star Rocco Siffredi.
Rocco, speaking mainly in subtitled Italian, is the box office draw of UNINHIBITED, but in a very strange production decision he is not involved in any of the hardcore footage. Since that is the entire raison d'etre of his career it makes one wonder about the project as a whole -what were they thinking? His partner and rival, Miano's son Antonio Escobar, is played by journeyman porn actor Tony Montana who was born in Colombia (his stage name taken from Al Pacino's memorable SCARFACE character).
To go after these drug lords, Gunn is teamed with a new, female hotshot partner Det. Jugginson. Her name is significant, as Gunn nicknames her "Juggs", based on her extremely buxom (unfortunately fake-looking) figure. K.C. Williams plays the role quite poorly, utterly unconvincing with her porn-star hairdo and trashy outfits, only made justifiable because she's supposed to look trampy "undercover". Ironically, this was next to the last project for K.C. who ended her "acting" career soon after.
Bud stages some decent action scenes, including shootouts and a confrontation of police helicopter with Rocco's drug-laden yacht. There are many softcore sex scenes, beginning with a sexy babe during the opening credits leaving unconscious (in a drunken stupor) Gunn's bed to rifle his wallet (Kelly Jae, in an all-too-brief topless cameo; I loved her in BAD GIRLS 4: JAYEBIRD, a Playboy Channel staple).
Other fabulous softcore eye candy is provided by the exotic Asha Siewkumar as Cassandra, who has a hot lesbian scene with K.C.; Leigh Betchley as Tina, wife of a murdered underling Rocket, who boss Montana takes to bed with him, having been Rocket's murderer; and Danielle Grammar, who I hoped from her opening credit listing to be a porn pal of Kelsey Grammar, but no such luck -she's a really beautiful blonde girlfriend of Montana's. Quite a coincidence, however (IMDb's spellcheck insists on changing the final e of their names to a in my review).
There is a moral to be learned here -know exactly what film (and what its parameters are) before shooting, perhaps following Hitchcock's famous dictum of having the entire film made in one's head, and then just executing. Even Hitchcock fell prey to the "uncertainty principle" that plagues UNINHIBITED and makes it such a curious non-starter straddling genres: recall his failure with TOPAZ and its endless rewrites leading to multiple endings.
