I liked Leanne better here. Great start to the seventh season

Warning: Spoilers
In the finale of last season, I didn't like Leanne at all. But here and in the next few episodes which I have already seen, she's great. She has really good camaraderie with Ben.

Ben doesn't seem like he's good at vacations. Lol. Newcomer, Cliff is introduced. Awkward and shy he is. He turns out to be Ben's old not-friend Billly's son. Billy was in The Witness Killings pt 1 and 2 in season six. That's when Ben went back to his hometown.

The mystery was decent enough and involved Leanne's old college friends. I'm glad at the end Leanne and her friend confronted the murderer. I felt that was needed even though not much came out of the conversation.

Anyway, for me, this was a good start to season 7. I miss Michelle and Julie. But Ben is his great ol self. Cranky, charming, and cute. 8/10.

Matlock's character is an insult to viewers
ulyssesmsu21 August 2023
I've read that Andy Griffith had a major influence in shaping his character on this series. At least we know who to blame. The show portrays Matlock, a genius in the courtroom, as a stupid, inept bumpkin everywhere else. He makes $1M a year, but he gripes about having to buy a package of 12 hot dogs. He goes to the grocery store but leaves his wallet in his car. And when it comes to women, he has the skills of a 13-year-old boy--maybe. This episode has a good plot and story development. The only issue--as in every episode--is Matlock's idiotic character. If you want to see how this show might've looked with a sharper, smarter Matlock, just watch Season 1.
