Buried Treasure
movieguyangelus5 July 2005
I love this movie! I first caught it at about 4 in the morning on Cinemax, back in the mid-90s and could not stop laughing at the bizarre tale of a con man on the run hiding out in a trailer park with the whitest of trash. While their he meets up with a porn star, a Hungarian movie star, and assorted other oddball characters that make this movie a lot of fun. Max Perrish and Adrienne Shelly both deserved to have better careers than they had after this came out. Both are great in their roles as Eli and the jail bait animal lover who falls in love with him. This might not be for everybody, but those who like an offbeat black comedy may find this well worth checking out. We need a DVD release! There are two versions floating around on VHS, an R rated and an Unrated...the difference coming, I believe, early on in the movie when Sabre first brings the drunken Eli home to her trailer and has her way with him. Despite this scene, the movie is low on the sleaze factor actually, with the only nudity coming from Parrish's butt...and it is kinda strange that they did two versions, but whichever you do manage to pick up (I bought the unrated for about $3) you will probably find it to be a few bucks wells spent.

La la love you...

Feeling nostalgic for an over the top 90s trailer trash romcom? You can do better, but why not dumpster dive! Plus, the soundtrack is actually pretty killer.

How quickly we forget the great ones ...........
merklekranz7 March 2010
If you enjoy "black comedy", "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" is a must see. This is something Paul Bartel would have had a ball with, as I'm sure Joel Hershman probably did. All the weird trailer park loonies you could ever imagine are in this movie. Nympho's, virgins, a senior citizen thief, mother haters, a Great Dane, and on and on. Cult status is assured if the film ever gets the exposure it deserves. The soundtrack is another reason to see "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" as it is excellent. So, if your idea of dark comedy might include poisoning your slutty sister, and then burying her in a pet cemetery, you have found "black comedy" gold. Highly recommended. - MERK

Side-Splitting Sleaze
corvus-310 February 1999
The director allegedly vowed to make the sleaziest movie he could as a condemnation of Hollywood. He succeeded admirably, but it feels more like homage to me.

Dialogue example: "I guess killing your sister, burying your dog, and losing your virginity all in one day is a lot for a girl."

I am not from the it's-so-bad-it's-good school of movie watching. "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" or even "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill" (which, by the way, is saluted in this film), has always been just too stoner-stupid for my taste. However, if you create off this concept, well. . .

This film is shot in the colors of sleaze--from Sabra's day-glow spandex to the hues of the trailer court. Everything is there to enhance the camp. This is side-spliting sleaze all the way. I mean, how about the scene where he takes Danni out to dinner with handcuffs on? Or, Sabra's come-on line, "down deep I'm a sensitive and vulnerable girl. Don't let my vibrators and dildos fool you."

Symbolism? How 'bout the Barbie dolls?

Inference with Import? How 'bout the scene where pink-spandexed Sabra walks Gus down the SPCA promenade of death? That'll make you give up topless bars and stroke mags, man.

Hidden treat? Buy the soundtrack. It'll fit nicely next to "Copulatin' Blues"

Weak link? Timmy Leary. The only acting he does effectively is playing dead.

A GREAT SONG WASTED ON A SLEEZY TITLE
larryanderson29 August 2022
The song was last used on a Bull-TV episode and was a big hit on radio. Here it is wasted on a "Trailer Park" sit com. A whole bunch of killings and near comedy skits that don't quit make the laugh meter move the needle. The cast tries hard but just doesn't make it. The stripper-sister is nice (she is a real porn star), to look at but that is about all. Look up all the titles she starred in on IMDB for some real laughs. Some laughs and a lot of Improbable situations roll out right to the end. Some fun but nothing great. Some great ideas and plot ploys but nothing memorable. Ok to watch on a dull rainy afternoon.

Genre: propaganda with cover-up title comedy.
alexferdman-986027 September 2018
Best propaganda in 20th century. Plot--violence is good, killing people is even better; sex is bad, all chicks ugly anyway. Music--somehow properly connected to plot. Skin factor--zero. Yes, watched it multiple times to figure out why its called comedy. Very happy to return to Italian flicks.

Strangest opening scene... then it starts to get weird!
JacquiQ13 July 2002
Some of the most unusual dialog I've ever heard!! And delivered perfectly by all concerned! This film was grand, campy fun. Definitely unique!!

Just when you think you know exactly where the film is headed, it suddenly takes an oblique turn, with hilarious results.

Another member used the phrase: "Side-Splitting Sleaze..." I consider that comment accurate and a compliment to the movie. I totally agree!

The subject matter is adult and the language is often profane. These characters are... um, interesting people, who say and do what they want, when they want. So this film isn't for everyone... But, if you like strangeness and enjoy laughing, this is a great movie for you.

WAY over the top...and excellent
preppy-319 April 2006
Eli (Max Parrish) accidentally shoots unstable "Twinkle" (Sean Young) after she tries to force him to marry her (at gunpoint). He hides out in a trailer park and becomes involved with an abusive crazy stripper (Andrea Naschak), her sweet kind sister (Adrienne Shelly) and various crazy characters.

An unjustly forgotten black (VERY black) comedy. There's no holds barred but it never crosses the line to become too black. It's well-directed with some VERY strange characters, hysterically funny dialogue, plenty of nudity (even Parrish shows some skin) and all done with gusto by the entire cast. Parrish is tall, handsome and hunky as Eli--the one sane person in the movie. Young isn't in it much but she makes her scenes count. Naschak is OK (if a little too vicious) and Shelly manages to play it sweet and light without becoming too cloying. Also Diane Ladd (who must have been hired for one days work) has a few short scenes.

It's sick but funny as hell. Sample line: "I guess killing your sister, burying your dog and losing your virginity all in one day is a lot for a girl". It's a shame this was barely released and got no attention and STILL remains that way to this day 13 years later. Just great! I give this a 10.

Outrageous Excitement & Candid Characters!
Vivacious_J13 May 2001
Wow, what can i say, i LOVE this movie. I've watched it several times, i own it. The characters are so magnified and bold, u can't help but stare at them in awe. There are so many great lines in this movie - it never leaves you bored or understimulated...well, with a borderline psycho/stripper/nympho and a trailer park full of fun how is that possible? I particularly enjoy the striking looks of Max Parrish--where is he since this movie?! And I am also a huge Sabra fan! She is the best. Ex.) "All I have to do is a few pornos, a few beaver shots in Hustler, and then i'll be like the BEST gymnastics instructor at your local YMCA!" ; "Come on titty-f*ck me u know you hate your mother!" Who couldn't love THAT?!!!! RENT THIS MOVIE, SUPPORT THIS MOVIE. Visit your local trailer park today and you will have acquired a newfound respect for its unique brand of culture.

Best role of Sean Young's Career
craigsdogjake8 December 2006
Best use of a song in a movie! I was completely swept up in the romance of it all. I think Adrianne Shelly is amazing. I loved Max Parrish! I wish he had been able to make more films. I met him at the Seattle International Film Festival, and got his autograph, he seemed surprised I would want it. Very nice and I think the film has got to be one of the funniest laugh-out-loud films of all time. I don't get anyone who doesn't get it! Sure, it's got some vulgar bits, but what do you expect when one of the actresses is an actual porn star? I thought she was great, seeing how her character is so unlikeable, and she really 'nailed' the part! Lots of twists and turns, and as I said before, the song placement was perfect!

love it, love it, love it

Original, off-beat, funny, stylish, unforgettable. What can I say? Where is everyone on this? Why is this film being ignored/passed over? Is it the Timothy Leary jinx? I think the opening scene of the wedding with Sean Young is one of the most unforgettable in film history. (Best thing she's done since Blade Runner).Plus it has Adrienne Shelley in it. She will always own my heart (& what's left of my libido).

Great characters make this a hysterical movie
CORINTHIASONS14 July 2002
Big studio Hollywood couldn't've made a film like this if they tried. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss me is one hysterical film that had me laughing throughout it's run. I found myself not being able to wait until the slutty nymphet Sabra would come back onto the screen, for every scene she is in is incredibly funny. She delivers her lines with such ease and assurity it was almost as if she was ad-libbing. Also, Sean Young is amazing, as is the incredibly good-looking Max Parrish and Adrienne Shelley (who's obviously not even close to the age of 17, which is the age of her character). DON"T RENT THIS MOVIE, BUY IT!!! I used to watch it on the USA network but they cut out alot of stuff, so I had to bid on it through Ebay because it's not easy to find in stores.

I loved it !!!
hypnopotamus17 September 2006
One of the best bizarre comedies ever! It is something between "Drowning Mona" and "What's The Worst That Could Happen?", very witty and hilarious, with twist and turns. The whole story is also fast and funny, acting is great. Everything about this movie is somehow twisted: weird people, trashy set, awkward situations... I've seen it almost dozen times and every time I laugh my heart out. Unfortunately, this movies is very hard to find. Not a single one of all video stores in my town had a copy. My own copy is on an old worn out VHS cassette... I love it and I would love to have it on DVD,because it is worth buying, so if anyone has a copy I'd be very happy if you would torrent it to me or rapid-share it :) Anyway, this is one of my favorite movies and I strongly recommend it! Definitely a must see!!!

One Funny Mama Jama Of A Movie!
newnoir2 October 2000
Adrienne Shelly is a goddess! I rent this movie from time to time just to watch her scenes. Ever since "Trust" I've been in love and lust with her. This is a whacky story of life at a Southern California trailer park. It hasn't got much of a plot, it's just an excuse to have a lot of funny scenes and situations go down on screen. Some of the jokes fall flat but for the most part it's lighthearted fun with an R rated twist. I like the casting of Andrea Naschak as the nympho sister.

Including two of my all-time favorite movie lines: 1) Diane Ladd: "I think I need me a coffee enema." 2) Lazlo: "Put your lips over your teeth and breathe through your nose."

I HATE HATE HATE THIS MOVIE
weerdo148219 September 2001
this movie was the worst movie I have ever seen. It was boring and stupid. It wasn't funny, it wasn't sexy (I'm still not convinced that the sabra character isn't a drag queen) it was nothing. Even as bad movies go, this movie is awful. I bought it because I like finding bad movies for 2 dollars at Wieners or Krogers and laughing at the stupid plots and bad dialoge(take a look at "the stoned age", wonderful bad movie)But this was awful. I feel sorry for anyone who has seen this movie, you are scared for life with an awful pain that will torment you until you draw your last tortured breathe.
