Out of the court, Claire confesses her lies to Andrew and dismays Jake when she tells him that she'll never love him as much as he loves her. Hugo is unimpressed and fears that Claire's performance in court will be rewarded with a prison sentence. Back in the courtroom, the judge tells Claire she is disturbed by her callousness, but taking into account her extraordinary confession, she gives her a sentence consisting of community service. Relief all round and Claire and Jake make their peace. Surprised and delighted that Andrew's forgiving of all her lies, Claire looks forward to their move to the old family home. Huia brings Martha, a matakite, to see Tama and Shannon in an effort to resolve Shannon's concerns about Norman. Tama's bristles at first but is won over by Martha's spiritual insight and charm. To Shannon's relief, Martha reassures Shannon that her baby will be fine and not to worry. She instructs Shannon to listen to her heart. Tania discovers that Mark has secretly been moonlighting again, but for a different hospital than the one he previously worked for. When she accuses him of lying, he placates her, promising to make it up to her. Chuffed that sharing a secret with him has cemented their relationship, Tania confides in Maia who lets slip that she knew already. Furious, Tania confronts Mark, accusing him of not trusting her or taking their relationship seriously. When he can't answer her accusations, a fed-up Tania dumps him. When Toni accuses Li Mei of not putting Norman first, Li Mei is unable to tell her of the lengths she's going to help Norman. Heather, a friend of Beth's turns up (the plastics patient Li Mei previously accepted a bribe from), and tries to similarly bribe her way onto the plastic surgery list. Li Mei rebuffs her, but Heather presses the money into Li Mei's hand, threatening to expose her earlier dealings if she doesn't co-operate. Toni, witnesses some of this and wants an explanation. At first Li Mei denies any wrong-doing, but caught red-handed, she finally confesses that she took the money from Beth in a moment of weakness. Toni's appalled as Li Mei pleads for her not to tell anyone. Just then Chris enters, demanding to know what's going on. Li Mei holds her breath as she waits to see whether Toni will drop her in it.

Claire reels from Jake's rejection but takes a double hit when Noah also knocks her back. Later, Andrew and Sarah have a go at Claire about the party but their anger is defused when she reveals that she has broken up with Jake. Andrew touches a raw nerve when he shows concern about Claire having no close friends. When Jake ignores her, Claire turns to Scarlett and Cheyenne for company. Cheyenne is delighted but Scarlett is wary. Vinnie laughs along when the nurses force him to wear a gold g-string while he cleans their cars. He maintains his good humour, even when Grunter and the other ambos give him a hard time. Vinnie stops his car washing to help the ambulance officers with a patient that goes into CPR, embarrassing himself by wearing his revealing outfit in E.D. Later, Vinnie feels isolated from his friends in his position as charge nurse. Craig and Huia arrange a date, clearly strongly attracted. Scarlett is unhappy to be stuck at home while Craig goes out but Cheyenne convinces Craig to let her hang out with Scarlett at home. As soon as Craig's gone the girls sneak out to Sugar while Craig enjoys an intimate dinner with Huia at Coltrane. Later, Huia and Craig are thwarted in their desire to spend the night together when they realise that they have nowhere to go. Later, Mark seems to confirm Hugo's belief and Hugo vows to remove her as an obstacle to his own relationship with Mark. Having heard all from Toni about Li Mei sleeping with Victor for advancement and running the sex phone line for money, Hugo arranges to meet Li Mei with the promise that he has the solution to Norman's money woes. Li Mei is stoked and tells Norman that their money problems could soon be over. However she's appalled when Hugo reveals that he wants her to have sex with him in exchange for the cash.

Maia is distraught about the threatening photo and is comforted by Jay, Mark and Vinnie. No one knows who's sent it, but they assume it must've been Trent, the violent homophobe from Coltrane. Maia struggles to hold it together, but despite her best efforts, she's distracted at work and Vinnie has to cover for her. Vinnie also plays the role of protector at home, but none of them realises they're secretly being watched. Even though Hugo announces he's probably leaving soon, Li Mei can barely tolerate his presence under her roof. She and Hugo trade thinly veiled threats, and she's excited when she finds a mysterious cabinet hidden under his bed. However, she's frustrated when she can't get into it and is nearly sprung in her snooping by Norman. Finding Yvonne infuriating, Tania is looking to move out. Vinnie wants her as a flatmate because he likes her; Li Mei wants her at her place to ensure Hugo doesn't stay any longer (and for the money). Each talks up their own place and talks down the other's. Tania can't decide which way to go but she enjoys being fought over. Toni lines up Mark to pay his doctor auction debt to her. Yvonne's unimpressed. Daniel's annoyed when Sarah suggests he cooks for the family, and Claire teases him. He sabotages food in the pantry and then puts dog food in the dinner. Claire discovers this and Sarah sends him to his room.

Toni and Mark are relieved that Chris seems to have not noticed their near kiss. But privately his suspicions rise, believing Toni and Mark have had an affair while he was away. Keen for any excuse to be out of the house, he offers to look after Jake and Scarlett while Craig's at the Medlympics. Toni tries to talk to Chris about their problems but he refuses to talk, leaving her stung. He tries to ice Mark out, but Mark sticks up for himself, suggesting that Chris and Toni should sort their problems before Chris loses Toni for good. However, the gulf between Toni and Chris grows. Unaware Hamish has been following her and assuming he's a visitor, Yvonne engages him in conversation. Tania's interest is also piqued. Andrew discovers that Claire lied to him about the first fifteen party and washes his hands of her - she can do what she likes. Claire tries to make up ground by offering to spend the day with Andrew and Daniel, but Andrew rejects her. Claire finds Jake in the cafe and her hopes rise when he smiles at her. She's deflated when it turns out to be Tamsin he's greeting and Claire pretends to seduce Noah away to spend the afternoon with her in response. Noah can't make it, but promises to see her soon. At home, Claire feels depressed and Andrew returns from a bad day with Daniel to find her lazing about. And when an ungrateful Daniel and Claire start fighting over food, he's doubly riled. Huia tries to rally the reluctant Medlympians and divvies them up into pairs: Mark and Maia get orienteering, Craig and Sarah the medical quiz and she and Vinnie the general knowledge. Huia's a tad sad not to be with Craig, and all are taken aback to see how serious the other contestants are. Back home, Li Mei keeps looking for proof that Hugo is the home invader. She discovers a DVD Norman found in Hugo's room and are shocked to see it's home invader footage of Nick and Waverley. Proof. She immediately rings the police and goes to see Chris, who contacts Craig. Meanwhile, Maia and Mark enjoy orienteering in the bush, but Mark oversteps the mark and kisses her. Shaken, she runs off, getting lost in the bush. Hearing footsteps, she thinks Mark is following her and tells him to leave her alone... but is terrified to come face to face with the balaclava'd, scalpel-wielding home invader.
