Among the worst slasher movies ever made.
HumanoidOfFlesh29 July 2012
Long time ago the Glouster family of boys were burned really bad during the explosion of their house caused accidentally by some film crew. The year is 1988.An actors' seminar at a remote house in the woods quickly turns into nightmare when their young and horny participants are stalked and murdered by three burned killers...Mercifully short slasher stinker with abysmal acting and dumb situations. The film features some of the worst acting performances I have ever seen. The editing is bad,the gore is almost non-existent and three killers are laughable with truly pitiful make-up on their burned faces. They look like forest bums.Jungle sound effects are pathetic.3 burned hobos out of 10.Only for most tolerant slasher collectors.

Weak slasher from the guy who brought you "Slash dance"

I'll give it a star for the poster which is the best thing here and deserves a much better movie. And another star for all the sweet 80s mullets.

Even I have limits

Warning: Spoilers
Sixteen years ago, the Clouster family was killed when a movie crew blew up the wrong house. Yes, that really happens. And yes, a crew decides to make another film right where that happened and some of the surviving - or zombified - members of the long-dead family are going to kill every actor, actress and craft service person who dares to start emoting.

This movie is 77 minutes long and the last ten minutes or so are a recap of the film, so I wonder if this is a parable about how a second in Hell feels like an eternity in normal human understanding. There's some serious theory of relativity going on here, as this seemingly lasts forever and I may just be still watching it and writing about it now is all a dream. In short, this movie seemingly never ends and the fact that it's punctuated by the same rainforest sound effects despite being set nowhere near a rainforest is not lost on me.

Writer/director James Shyman also made Slash Dance. I haven't seen that yet, but my nightmare is that I insert the DVD and it ends up being Hollywood's New Blood all over again.

A nursery school pageant is more professional.

It's cliched! It's boring! It's a stupid, goreless, humorless horror film with no surprises, no scares, no violence, no special effects, no nudity and nothing else of potential interest! It's so bad it makes me want to petition the IMDB for a 0 to be added to the rating system. And it was all shot using a standard VHS camcorder, which you probably have tucked away somewhere in a closet. Hey folks! Why don't we all make our own movies, stick them in a cool video box and trick other hapless people into suffering through them!

The plot revolves around a bunch of dense college-aged acting students who come together one stormy weekend to work on some project at a secluded cabin. Unfortunately for them (and ever more unfortunately for us) some psycho killers who were physically scarred when their house blew up, show up and start killing everyone off. It's just like a home-video quality FRIDAY THE 13TH movie minus all the good stuff. Could a movie be any worse? Geesh, I hope not.

One more thing--although he's not listed here anywhere in the credits, one of the victims is played by Ken Abraham, who acted frequently for David DeCoteau and Rick Sloane.

Score: 1 out of 10.

"How can I feel scared? There is nothing dangerous around here."

Hollywood's New Blood is another craptastic horror entry that falls under the heading "so bad it's hysterical." The story follows a few young acting hopefuls attending a seminar to help them hone their craft. Unfortunately for them, the cabin they are staying in has a history. A movie crew filming at that location some 15-20 years ago accidentally blew the hell out of the place...and along with it the entire Glouster family. Or so they thought. Needless to say, the surviving Glousters don't care much for Hollywood types. That sucks for our bunch of twenty-somethings as the Glousters pick them off, one by one. The trio of killers aren't much to write home about. Go downtown in any major city and you will see the same three guys. The movie should have been called "Attack of the Shambling Hobos." Watch in horror as they shamble after various mullet-heads and dishwater blondes!! The tagline could have been "The night THEY came home." I swear the sound guy put microphones in their boots because when they are on screen all you can hear is loud, shuffling sounds. Luckily there is one character who knows the backstory of the Glousters and can track them through the woods. However, since all of the Glousters drag a bum leg, I'm certain I could have tracked them as well. In fact, the Glousters are the weakest slashers I've ever seen in a movie. I not only could have tracked them, I could have defeated them. I would have kicked each of them in their good leg and ran off. Simple as that. Should you make it through this entire feature you will be rewarded with a music video! It's utterly baffling too. One stanza of music is repeated over complete scenes from the movie that aren't even edited to be interesting while some weird guy keeps saying the title over and over again. Oh well. In an alternate universe the Glousters decided to fore-go revenge in favor of a lawsuit and became millionaires. They used the money to fix their bad legs.

Purposeless wad of video-exclusive night-soil.

A group of aspiring young thesps are beset by minacious derelicts during a field trip at a secluded old movie ranch.

There's really very little to be said about HOLLYWOOD'S NEW BLOOD, except that it's a heavyweight contender for "worst slasher movie of all time". It's a faceless fumble in workaday amateurism, lethally dull and almost entirely devoid of any requisite slasher-cinema largess. Watching bad actors portraying actors is always somewhat amusing, but once that minor novelty wears thin, this film's valuation sinks to absolute zero.

Nothing about HOLLYWOOD'S NEW BLOOD is worth a tinker's damn, but what else would you expect from a RAEDON VIDEO inhouse production? 1.5/10...an unpardonable belly-flop which simply must be avoided.

Lacking in what genre fans want to see
lor_1 April 2023
My review was written in March 1989 after watching the feature on Raedon Entertainment Group video cassette.

The direct-to-video feature "Hollywood's New Blood" is a by-the-numbers horror thriller overly reminiscent of early 1980s pictures.

Though boasting an attractive young cast, feature goes nowhere, with minimal gore and an unscary series of murdes. Sluggish effort ends with ten minutes of repeat footage (to the music of a repetitive song) to pad out the slim running time to feature length.

Star is the immediately familiar Bobby Johnston, star of innumerable softcore sex movies popular on cable tv in the decade of the 1980s. Femme cast is attractive but none of the popular genre actresses of the day.
