Steven Seagal is back in action with the Premiere Entertainment Group thriller Code of Honor, which has just started rolling in Salt Lake City, Utah. The story follows a Special Forces colonel who returns from a Middle East tour. Noticing that his hometown has disintegrated into a violent world run by murderers and narco-terrorists, the colonel takes the situation into his own hands by entering the shadow world. No one can stop him, except for maybe an old teammate. The…...

4.6 Legacy
Troi, Worf, Riker and Data are interrupted from their poker game when Picard announces that they've received a distress call. Rushing to the scene, they arrive just in time to watch it explode. Uh-oh! If only they'd stayed at Warp 9.3 instead of going to Warp 9.6 they could've avoided some paperwork. Data tracks an escape pod trail to the surface, however. Oh, and that's the surface of Turkana IV – birthplace of Tasha Yar.
Although the Federation has been warned to stay away from the failed settlement, Picard sends an away team to rescue the missing people. When they get to the surface, Riker and the gang find the escapees have been abducted by one of the gang factions – the Alliance - and meets their opposition – the Coalition -...

The Star Trek franchise is arguably one of the most popular sci-fi franchises of all time, up there with Star Wars; I’m not even going to touch the whole “which is better” debate here or anytime soon. Let’s save that for William Shatner and Carrie Fisher, eh?
One of the hardest things I’ve ever written was the top 25 episodes of The Next Generation because, to me, nearly all of them are great and some don’t get ranked as high as others. Each episode, in their own rite, mixed adventure, humour and storytelling in a way that is unique to this particular show.
While there are a select few episodes which are either somewhat questionable or truly abysmal, Tng has a very strong batting average weighing in its favor with notable classics such as “The Inner Light,” “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” “Q Who,” and, the universal favorite “The Best of Both Worlds.

Review James Hunt 12 Apr 2013 - 08:01
James reaches the finale of Tng season 1, which sees the Enterprise go through a rainbow of alert levels dealing with the Romulans...
This review contains spoilers.
1.26 The Neutral Zone
At the start of the episode, the crew is waiting for Picard to return from a meeting (of course) at Starbase 718 when they stumble across an old ship form Earth. Riker, apparently uninterested in history, insists they "let nature take its course" but Data points out they've got nothing better to do and is allowed to beam on board with Worf. Although confused by the simple handle-operated doors, the pair discover a selection of cryogenics pods – some containing some well-preserved people! As Picard returns, they bring the pods back to the Enterprise.
Picard's first order is for the Enterprise to journey into the Neutral Zone! If you're confused, think of the Neutral Zone as a...

With the unsuspecting human world perhaps on the verge of discovering that Wesen live amongst them and the erupting chaos that would ensue, the precarious balance of secrets in Grimm are set to topple. In a recent press conference call, co-star Silas Weir Mitchell shared where he sees his character Monroe fitting into the Grimm jig-saw puzzle of relationships and forces at work. He also weighed in on the slowly blossoming Monroe/Rosalee romance.
Can you give some hints as to what might be happening with Rosalee??
Silas: Well, Rosalee is back, which is delightful, and we sort of we hang out at the spice shop. There’s these different groups in the story. There’s the Grimms, although there’s really only one. Then there’s the Wesens. Then there’s subgroups of the Wesen. Then the Royals. Then there’s the Varrock. And there’s all these kind of forces at work.

Review James Hunt Jan 4, 2013
James' season one Tng look-back comes to a truly horrible episode...
This review contains spoilers.
1.14 Angel One
Oh good, it's Angel One. Wait, did I say good? I'm fairly sure that's not what I meant at all.
On the way to the Neutral zone where the Romulans are causing trouble, the Enterprise drops in on Angel One to search for the possible survivors of a freighter disaster some years earlier. The planet is a strange one where (if you accept the episode's highly dubious premise) social gender roles are flipped, so that the females are more dominant and physically imposing, and males are slight and weak-willed. You know, like the opposite of what is on Earth! (This might be a new record: a Star Trek episode whose ingrained prejudices undermine its point at the premise level, before a word has been written).
Subtle, it is not.

A quick confession before we begin. I was never a huge fan of the original Star Trek series from the sixties, and while I have grown to appreciate it over the years, it never felt like it was mine in the same way that The Next Generation does. The reason for this is because the first season of Tng, which has just materialised on Blu-ray, began while I was in my teens, and I followed it religiously, watching each episode as it was originally transmitted, and then again and again by way of my friend Al's vast VHS collection of the original releases.
That said, my last viewing of a Next Generation episode was a good decade ago, during which time Blu-ray has become an accepted, nay essential, part of any serious television and movie fan's viewing experience, and so when the news originally broke that Tng was to be...

I'd like to thank everyone who suffered through my suffering over the last few days. That was a lot of damage from what amounted to a 10 minute windstorm. I've really come to appreciate the simple luxuries of life that we take for granted, from air conditioning to hot water to just a cold drink in the fridge. I'd also like to thank snicks for stepping in and basically running the site by himself and still managing to substitute for me on Meme, where he did a stellar job, even though I know he hates writing the column. Actually, everyone who has ever substituted for me hates writing Meme, though for the life of me I can't understand why my little column is so tough to do. snicks will also be liveblogging Days of Our Lives today, and he's trying a new (but old skool) format after mixed reviews of yesterday's Twitter blog.
