Thirty-four year old Kansas housewife, Liddy Travis, is diagnosed with a terminal illness with four months to live. She will deteriorate into a "vegetable" and eventually die in great pain. To avoid this kind of death, she asks her husband to help her kill herself. He refuses and she must then turn to her life-long friend, Dean, for help.
