Trivia The famous line in the film, "What society? We are the society.", was uttered by Leslie Cheung. Unfortunately, film producers Dennis Yu and Jeffrey Lau were unable to charge the post-production fees on time, outraging Leslie Cheung for not dubbing his own line (it was filmed around that time when, notoriously speaking, Hong Kong films were shot silent and dubbed every dialogue later by professional voice actors in post-production). So this famous line was now dubbed by then-unknown (assistant) director Stanley Kwan. See more »
