Cool Idea, but that's it
kalashelarcangel8 June 2019
Great Idea, poor execution. It starts with a strong promise, but the characters end up trying to be depressing, existential, funny, friendly and romantic. He who attempts to grab too much ends up with nothing....

100 Dinge Review
felipepm1710 July 2019
This movie is actually way more of a mix of comedy and "drama" than I expected. The cast is good and the main idea for the movie works nice. But I feel like this movie would be more fun if it chose one side. It should either be a comedy or a drama about consumerism. I do not know if I totally like where both main characters end up at the end.

Beautiful shooting, gorgeous men and inspiring idea
gasparyankarina13 June 2019
The actors' play is really good, the idea is inspiring, the plot isn't elaborate enough though. Loved the movie for the positive vibes it brought into my evening.

Excellent Idea but on several points a bit lame.
keeponmoving18 December 2020
Could have been so much deeper and better. But then it's kind of a funny movie which will be seen by many people and no arthouse production.

We need to start consuming less

It is good that there are people who think about such things. The film is not so interesting in terms of plot development. And the characters are not so realistic. Sometimes I could not understand their motivations. But they are cute, and I watched the movie with interest to the end

Good idea, but not perfect implementation

Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes it seemed that the actors were playing a bit theatrical and unrealistic, but perhaps it emphasized the genre of the film. The beginning seemed intriguing and promising. The middle, although a little crowded, could better delve into the thoughts of the characters, showing how their philosophy develops. After all, this change is very important within the boundaries of this film. However, the ending turned out to be emotionally intense and touching, suggestive of life. As a result, we have a fairly good work, a light comedy with elements of drama, which reminds us: not things make us happy.

Typical german comedy for a bad mood
raphaelpilz15 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
How does germany fk up epic movie ideas like this? The first 30 minutes are amazing, I would rate it with 10 stars. Then, drama enters in the form of a crazy girl, jealousy, betrayal, death, sad old people, sad families and last but not least a breakup of all good friends in the movie. Germany please call your comedies a drama, when will you learn this?

Entertaining
vetrasabine7 December 2018
For me as a foreigner to understand the dialogues 100% was not possible, however, I enjoyed the film from the first moment until the last. F. D. Fitz is a good director - he has proved that in his previous films already. The plot touches topics that concern us all - consumerism, always wanting more, not appreciating one another etc., therefore, I think everyone who gets a chance should see this film's perspective.

who was the intended target group for this movie?
cmelaniesenf11 March 2021
I usually don't like German productions. Our films and tv shows have the tendency to feel like rip-offs of American productions with no desire to put our mark on it. But this, 100 things, actually surprised me. Yes, the production could have chosen different actors for once. Young, aspiring ones, who are more aware of the issue. More involved. Matthias Schweighöfer and Florian David Fitz are 40 years old. Settled. Living low-key. I, as a female, 10 years younger doesn't relate to them, nor would the Millennials or the generation Z. So, who was the intended target group for this movie? I also didn't understand the need to use a stand-in for Mark Zuckerberg. Like there are no other (famous) investors. Why give the investor a name anyway with the rise and fall of companies these days? But apart from all that, the plot was really good. Something we all should think about since we became a throwaway society. Heavily supporting all the Primarks these days and its factories in low-wage countries. Paying dumping prices for clothes, furniture's, jewelry etc. and are proud of it. Is that essential for a your life?

Too shallow, too much feel-good movie for the topic, no real criticism.

Surprisingly good
blackmountainkat7 December 2020
I liked it. I liked it a lot. Unfortunately German Cinema seems to have only 10 actors nowadays, but despite this, it was able to keep me interested and even touch me with its story, characters and overall execution. Well played, well made and fun in between. Please go ahead and give it a try!

Material boy(s)
kosmasp26 December 2020
Who are we? What are we? And what really defines us? What makes us happy? An app or things? Both those things or when is enough enough? Now don't expect this to be too much of a social drama. It is a light comedy with a social message and maybe something that is able to make you think and reavaluate things (or not of course).

While some cliches are being served and the story is quite predictable, it is overall entertaining. Some convenient drama is being shoved upon us, but the two main actors (with additional support by the ... supporting actors) are able to keep us engaged with their enthusiasm. Also both of them seem to gel and rub each other the right way (no pun intended, since there is quite a lot of male nudity in this). Their chemistry is evident and that helps the movie in more than one way. If you don't mind the flaws too much, this can be a decent time waster

... I just don't know what's it that is wrong with German film... but they spoil a great idea almost every single time... always the same faces... always the same side (romance) stories (filling material??) and lame jokes... when do I finally learn that Germany can maybe produce cars but certainly not cinema?

really suitable for the minimalists to watch
heyrocoberry19 July 2022
It's kind of a big challenge for people who never try simple living, also a short brief of the capitalist society, people are addicted to shop and fulfill the house with lots of stuffs, trying to ignore the feeling deep inside us. This movie isn't something marvelous, but it's a real alarm for people who are suffered. When you look around finding you are already trapped in your surrounding, maybe it's time to declutter your stuffs and look inside yourself.

What did I just watch?
DrCCat7 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The premise of the movie is good. Too much consumerism in life. First act is good, everything after and it falls apart like a like cheap shoes.

Problems: suspend all disbelief all ye who enter here.

You expect me to believe that one 1 night a handful of drunk workers moved 2 guys homes and everything out?

That drunk co-workers too drunk bosses literary.

This was the confusing part: 2 guys who were supposly friends (odd couple dynamic) hate each other and constantly fight (verbal & physical) are best friends? Then the movie turns into a ROMCOM then into a moral lesson.

I enjoy foreigner films, but this movie had too many pieces too many sub plots.

Loved it

Quest for happiness .. for what it means to be human ... as we got lost as a generation in the shifting values of the material and non material ... this movie was a good wake up call to evaluate our principal values.

A very interesting challenge.
tildiz14927 August 2023
Paul Konaske and Anton "Toni" Katz have been friends for a long time. They work at a technology company, own many expensive items and likes to party.

After a successful day at work, they decide to celebrate. The next morning they wake up in horror. The only things they have left is their apartments and their home keys. They start to remember the challenge from last night. 100 days, 100 things. They will choose one item to bring back each day. Paul and Toni soon realize that the long, stressful and thought-provoking challenge is more difficult to accomplish than they expected.

If I were in Pauls or Tonis situation I would, first of all, choose a piece of clothing. After that I would choose a crossword magazine. And as for the movie, there wasn´t much that I missed. I would have liked a bit more clarity in some scenes. But other than that I must say that I really liked this movie. I think that it´s very impressive that Florian David Fitz directed, wrote the script for and acted in this movie. He and the rest of the cast and crew did a very good job! In other words I´ll recommend this one.

Not for shallow people!
tvandal25 January 2024
This movie is excellent in its own genre, it's entertaining, funny, self reflecting and eye opening, all at the same time. This movie is not only about consumerism per se, but about finding yourself, acceptance and general life what happiness is actually about. When you can't see the tree in a forest, then this movie is not for you. For me, this movie was severely underrated, it's one of the best I have watched in a very long time! The movie has a lot of tiny nuances and the actors did a great job showing that accordingly. Although I am normally 'action' driven on my choices, this movie is a must see, for those wanting to extend their horizon.

Much better film than what other reviews say
gphgrm0121 January 2024
I love this film very much, and I even watched it several times. This is a "non-hollywood" style film about the modern world of startups, apps, money, possession and consumerism, and modern addictions. Also, its includes the subtle references to the self-illusions of the second and third generations of East Germans who strived to become "westerners" so that they could "buy things", and now when they could buy anything, they are completely imprisoned people in their minds. Probably only small number of viewers understands that all the main characters actually originate from East Germany, and bear the traumas of their parents, while actually they actually they should have taken some lessons from their grandparents. This is very much a German-themed film, which also very well shows general traumas of the global world. It is very intuitive film, which is mostly unknown to American production, and I think this is the reason why American-trained audience does not appreciate this film enough.

However, for somebody who has lived in Germany, this film makes a lot of sense. Contemporary average young German professional orders at least 50 thing every year from ibay, amazon and other sites, while not really needing any of these things. Germany also has strong anti-consumerist movements, as a counter- reaction to materialist craziness. The film is actually very serious, because it says that all these materialist behaviour is a fear of abandonment, fear of loneliness, a contemporary disease that nobody wants to accept as reality.
