Soul stirring music but facts distorted !!
praveenlodhi12 January 2020
Movie has very good songs sung by Vani Jeyram.

Historical facts are distorted in order to show Mughal ruler just and kind.

Going by historical facts it is unlikely that Akbar can meet Meera.

Akbar was born in 1542 and Meera died in 1547/8. He was just a 4-5 year old child at the time of death of Meera. Akbar became emperor in 1556, long after death of Meera.

Excellent film on the saint Mirabai
rtoac12 May 2023
This is a Hindi language biographical film about the life the great Krishna devotee Mirabai.

The film has been created with great sensitivity and supported by very good performances. Hema Malini plays the title character and she's done really well.

Gulzar's direction stands out for bringing out Mirabai's story in such a beautiful form. The scene with Tansen is touching. As is Mirabai's proclamation at the end on the enlightened truths on the oneness of All that her bhakti had made her realise. She truly saw the world as Krishna's Leela.. And her vanishing after consuming poison a true testimony of her having merged with the divine.

Mirabai's immortal songs continue to be enjoyed today and will be eternal. The mood of these songs are well captured in the film by Gulzar.

Vinod Khanna stands out playing Mirabai's worldly husband Rana Bhojraj who is caught between being able to see his wife's divinity but unable to reconcile it with the demands is the world and society around. AK Hangal also plays the role of Mirabai's guru Sant Raidas very well.

Highly recommended watch.
