When news broke in early February that Mariah Carey had booked a return ticket to Las Vegas to mount another residency, it was revealed that she would design the set list as a celebration of her 2005 blockbuster album, The Emancipation of Mimi.
It inspired the title of the exclusive run — The Celebration of Mimi — as well as the timing. Carey took the stage at Park MGM’s Dolby Live to launch the 16-date residency on April 12, 2024, exactly 19 years to the day after the album was released. It’s no surprise Carey wanted to commemorate the 14-track effort, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and brought the elusive chanteuse back into familiar territory at the top of the charts. The success of Emancipation of Mimi was fueled by the No. 1 smash “We Belong Together” and punctuated by singles “It’s Like That,” “Shake It Off,” “Get Your Number,” “Don’t Forget About Us,...

Earlier this year, Mariah Carey sent her creative team to search for one significant piece of tour memorabilia. It had been nearly two decades since she last saw it: the glowing “Mimi” sign that lit up the stage during her Adventures of Mimi tour in 2006. Each night, the lighting structure would descend from above the stage as Carey — shimmering in a black, menswear-inspired co-ord — launched into “Shake It Off,” one of the most successful singles from The Emancipation of Mimi, released on April 12, 2005. The sign was a reference to both...

Noted actor Pankaj Tripathi faced one of the toughest challenges of his career when he was asked to portray former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in biopic “Main Atal Hoon.”
Vajpayee (1924-2018) was a poet and a politician who served three terms as Prime Minister. He belonged to the Bharatiya Janata Party (Bjp), the party, which is currently in power in India. Vajpayee, who presided over India’s nuclear tests, was also known as a diplomat who improved relations with the country’s arch rival Pakistan and introduced multiple reforms. He was popular across party lines.

It’s been almost 20 years since Mariah Carey last won a Grammy, so when she received the Global Impact Award from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective, she offered a dose of her signature comical shade.
“Is this a real Grammy? I haven’t seen one in soooooo long,” she said Thursday night as she held the award.
“It’s weird. I don’t know,” Carey continued while laughing as the audience at the Fairmont Century Plaza cheered her on. “We’ll figure out what this is later.”
Carey is easily one of the best-selling acts of all-time and holds the record for most No. 1 hits — 20 — by a solo artist. She’s been nominated for 34 Grammys, winning five: best new artist and best female pop vocal performance (“Vision of Love”) in 1991, as well as three R&b honors at the 2006 ceremony for “We Belong Together” and The Emancipation of Mimi.

Mumbai, Dec 9 (Ians) Acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi has emerged as an unlikely star of the Ott world. He does not fulfil the stereotype of traditional good looks, neither does he cut an image of traditional heroism. He certainly does not belong to the GenNow brigade. Yet, every time a new project comes up flaunting his name in the credits, fans sit up excitedly.
Tripathi attributes his success to his diverse choices, stating he has worked hard to get to this point.
This year, he has showcased his brilliance as an actor in projects as diverse as "Mirzapur 2", "Ludo", "Extraction", and "Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl", besides the big screen release "Angrezi Medium", where he had a limited but quirky footage.
The year coming up promises to be even more exciting for his fans. He has six finished projects lined up. These are "83", "Kaagaz", "Mimi", "Criminal Justice 2", an untitled film...

Charlie Hauck, a writer-producer who penned scripts for some of TV’s most iconic sitcoms – Maude, Frasier, Home Improvement, One Day At A Time and, under a pseudonym as a favor to Larry Gelbert, one episode of M*A*S*H – died at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, Nov. 14, of complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 79.
His death was confirmed by his daughter Flannery Cogan Hauck.
“Nobody made me laugh harder, or more often, than Charlie Hauck,” said Maude creator Norman Lear. “He defined ‘funny’ and was a glorious man and friend.”
Hauck, whose career spanned more than 35 years, created the 1986 Valerie Harper comedy Valerie and co-created The Associates, the 1979 ABC sitcom that introduced a young Canadian actor named Martin Short to U.S. audiences.
Hauck’s knack for recognizing young comic talent also contributed heavily to another longstanding Hollywood career: Remembering a friend from his pre-Los Angeles days at Pittsburgh’s Wqed-tv,...

Mariah Carey is one of the most successful recording artists in recent history with more chart-topping singles than any other solo artist in Billboard history. You’d think she’d have a truck full of Grammys too, but the recording academy has actually been fairly stingy to her over the years. She has only won 5 awards out of 34 nominations, and only one of those was in the general field. Can she finally win Album of the Year in 2020 for “Caution“?
Carey’s general field victory came in 1991 when she claimed Best New Artist. That year she also won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Vision of Love,” but she lost her other three general field bids: Record and Song of the Year for “Vision” and Album of the Year for her self-titled debut.

We’re not two weeks into “Project Runway’s” 17th season, and already the show has made lots of people angry. Specifically, many of our readers were mad that the judges eliminated Cavanagh Baker for a bland but competent design in the season premiere instead of Frankie Lewis for an ambitious but disastrously constructed bodysuit. Will Lewis survive for a second week? Our readers aren’t so sure.
According to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users, Lewis is the front-runner to be eliminated in tonight’s second episode with leading odds of 23/10. Maybe we’re wrong. Maybe Lewis just had extraordinarily bad luck in the first challenge and she’ll bounce back with consistently flawless designs from here on out. But it’s concerning that Lewis needed so much help just to get any kind of finished garment on her model.
