Trivia The novel's author Per Wahlöö and his 13-year de facto wife Maj Sjöwall wrote in collaborative work ten successful crime novels based on a detective, in the 1960s and 1970s. Quotes [last lines]
Kaptain Behounek: [to Dalgren] If Frankenheimer had not been so quick on the draw, now you'd be a hero and a martyr in this province, for years to come... You can't love, you can not sleep with a woman, you can't get drunk as you did before. Of course you'll do all these things, but only in a technical sense, you can't feel nothing, you just go through the motion... Have you killed anyone, Dalgren?
[long pause]
Kaptain Behounek: Then you've something to thank for.
[fire squad shots inside the military barracks]
Kaptain Behounek: Ah, before you leave, your excellency, let's have dinner!
