spoiled the book

not good! the book was totally neglected... only two characters have been chosen well, those who played georgeta and stanica ratiu. the most important characters, felix and otilia (the title is evidently about these two 'people'), are awfully played by unskilled actors....maybe because of the lack of experience young actors use to have at that time. mos costache is againg very important and detailed described in the book, and, to make it worse for the movie, i found it extremely hard to even understand what the actor who played him was saying!!! i am amazed that the original script of this film-the book- was entirely mocked. i wish the directing was better too. i left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Waste of time

I wanted to see this movie because i believe the novel is good but from the beginning the movie was a disappointment. First I would insist on the characters that are very badly chosen. Most of them just don't know how to act!Maybe it's the fault of the lack of experience of the Romanian film makers of those times,or maybe they made the movie in a big hurry.It is obvious that even after the movie was shot the scenes weren't put together well. The most important scenes that capture your attention in the novel aren't underlined in this movie.Even the directing was awful.I believe that every scene was shot once,otherwise I can't explain the presence of so many spoilers! I'm sorry to say that I've wasted my time watching this one.

decent work

Difficult to define it. it is an adaptation. decent, beautiful, interesting. and nothing more. for the simple motif than it propose only few admirable performances and the novel seems be a pretext for a gallery of characters. not bad option. only, maybe, not the most inspired.
