Gotham is back with an all new episode. What will become of the current feud between Penguin and The Riddler? Is Nygma now working for The Court? Will Gotham finish the season strong coming off the news that it has been renewed for a fourth season? Read on the find out the good and the bad from this week's episode:
Good: The Beginning of the Episode -- I'm not the biggest fan of the super-strong Captain Barnes, but the beginning of the episode was great seeing that we got to see Barnes, Talon, and a brief cameo from Mad Hatter. This led to The Court needing Barnes' blood in order to purge the city of its decay, and who did The Court get to obtain his blood?...Hugo Strange. It's good to see a number of the characters who I feel were a part of some...

Square Enix is showing off one of their latest DC Comics Play Arts Variant Batman: Rogue's Gallery action figures. This one is a Batman and Mr. Freeze mashup. As you'll see, Batman has been given a cold suit that comes complete with cryo tubes and a freeze gun. This has such a cool and sinister character design that I'm sure collectors will love. Square Enix sure does know how to bring out the badassery in these superhero and villain characters that they make figures for. Here are the details:
Mr. Freeze, Batman's foe with a heart of ice, enters the Rogues Gallery series! Mr. Freeze is driven to freeze all living things that they might be preserved forever, giving him the reputation of a ruthlessly cold and unforgiving villain. In this entry of the Rogues Gallery series, Mr. Freeze measures approximately 10 2/5-inches tall x 9 1/2-inches wide x 5 1/4-inches long and...

Jared Leto is officially the prettiest Joker ever. "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer just shared the first photos of the "Dallas Buyers Club" star's transformation into Batman's most notorious foe -- and he's got a lot less hair these days. While Leto has been rocking long locks since 2012 and goes back and forth between a full-on beard and light scruff, both are Mia now. Ayer teased the makeover earlier this morning on Twitter, posting a photo of a pair of scissors against Leto's ponytail. "Should we?" he captioned the pic. Well, they did ... and the director followed that shot up a couple hours later with the photo on the right above -- showing Leto with a clean-shaven face and a much shorter 'do. While he clearly has a ways to go before he's full-on Joker-ed out, this was a big step for both Leto and Ayer. Not only do they...

With 11 DC Comics superhero films, coming down the pipeline after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would be a fanboys dream to have the creative minds behind The Dark Knight trilogy return to, at the very least, shepherd a project or two. Sadly, it appears that Jonathan and Christopher Nolan's time with superheroes is at an end. At the press junket for Interstellar, Coming Soon got the confirmation from Jonathan. "I love those guys [at WB/DC Entertainment] and my brother was involved in ‘Man of Steel’ with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. [But] I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed." It's definitely a new day and direction at Warner Bros. During the heyday of The Dark Knight trilogy, there was a time when Batman and/or his Rogue's Gallery were not allowed to be used in any other medium, be it film, television or animation. Warner Bros. CEO...

Cory Michael Smith ("Olive Kitteridge," "Carol") has scored the key role of Edward Nygma, the future The Riddler, in the upcoming Batman prequel series "Gotham" for Fox.
In this version, Nygma is a brilliant yet socially awkward forensic scientist who works with the cops on cases. He's eccentric, outgoing and desperate to be liked.
Smith has a guest role in the pilot and may become a series regular. This marks the third key "Rogue's Gallery" casting for the series following Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin and Camren Bicondova as Catwoman in their nascent stages.

Riddle me this: Why is a raven like a writing desk? While you're thinking on that one, riddle me this: Who will play Edward Nygma in Fox's "Gotham" pilot? While The Hatter's riddle has no one answer, the answer to the second one is at your finger-tips if you just follow something that's black and white and read all over, namely this blog. Wbtv and Fox announced today that Cory Michael Smith has been cast as the Future Riddler in the straight-to-series Commissioner Gordon prequel "Gotham." Edward Nygma is introduced in the Bruno Heller-scripted "Gotham" pilot as a forensics expert who helps Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in a murder investigation. He prefers speaking in riddles to giving straight-forward answers, which annoys the two detectives, but they'll probably be much more annoyed when The Riddler begins his reign of terror. Putting together its future Rogue's Gallery of DC Comics villains,...

It appears that director Tim Burton originally considered another actor for the part of The Joker in his 1989 Batman movie. During a panel for the 25th anniversary of horror film "Chucky" at New York Comic Con, the voice of the iconic doll 'Brad Dourif' was Burton's original choice for the Joker. The actor who did get the part, Jack Nicholson, was even nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. "Tim Burton saw me on a plane and wanted to cast me and they [the studio] said no," said Dourif during the panel. When another cast member on stage mentioned it was Nicholson who ended up with the part, Dourif joked, "He takes all my roles." That wasn't the only time Dourif was pegged to play a member of Batman's Rogue's Gallery. When Burton was originally attached to 1995's "Batman Forever," Dourif...

Mondo has released a new Aliens poster featuring The Queen. The piece was created by Jason Edmiston. This is one of several illustrations he did for his solo art show called "A Rogue's Gallery," which celebrates "cinematic monsters and villains." It's taking place at the Mondo Gallery in Austin from August 23rd to September 14th. I've included a few other pieces that will be on display at the show as well, but the Aliens poster is my favorite. The images come from io9, who talked with the artist about the inspiration behind his work, and this is what he said:
A lot of time, people will do portraits of pop culture characters and they'll try to get really quirky with them, and they'll be tongue-in-cheek. But I wanted to treat most of these portraits as pretty much, straight-up ultimate versions of these characters, as if they were going to be turned into stamps.

I remember hurrying home weekday afternoons after school to watch the 1960's Batman TV series in syndication. I couldn't get enough of the Dynamic Duo's exciting world of crime fighting and action. As a child, that was the only Batman I knew. I didn't know about the Dark Knight Detective who at the very same time in the late 1970s was busy battling all sorts of supernatural villains in the comic books. All I knew was that the Caped Crusader and his energetic sidekick saved the world from a Rogue's Gallery of witty and colorful super villains.
There were more than a handful of Bat-fanatics very upset when the series was canceled after three seasons. It's obvious the show had a huge following as it's been in syndication and airing somewhere in the world every day for the past 45 years. DC Comics is giving fans of the series something to get excited about.

The latest Game Informer cover story reveals that the console prequel to Rocksteady's pair of "Arkham" titles will see Batman square off against eight of the world's deadliest assassins on the streets of Gotham.
The Game Informer story reveals that Rocksteady has handed off the Bat-ton (get it, "baton?") to Warner Bros. Montreal, who'll be developing this prequel set presumably in the early days of Batman's career. The story would pit the Caped Crusader against some of his villains for the very first time with government-enhanced super soldier Deathstroke unveiled as one of the killers gunning for the Bat.
Using WB's modified Unreal engine, "Arkham Origins" will have the same look as the previous "Arkham" titles, thus nixing earlier reports that the next "Batman" game would be set in the Silver Age. This extended backstory route allows WB Montreal to do without Mark Hamill who's famously said that he's...
