Adventure movie about some kiddies who sail and strand on a remote island , being freely based on Jules Verne novel
ma-cortes22 October 2018
Adventure fictional about some travelers who shipwreck on a far location and inspired by Jules Verne novel . Adventure tale full of colorful scenarios , thrills , action and in low budget . Amusing , lighthearted romp , though so-so, only for kids and teenagers , based upon the Jules Verne novel . It's a mediocre fun with naive special effects , acceptable production design and atmospheric art direction . A ship called Slough embarks aboard 15 children of different nacionalities . They undergo a hazardous voyage . After a tumultous thunder they are shipwrecked at a mysterious island where they have several adventures , as well as amusement , as playing football or celebrating Christmas . After that ,some of them set out in exploring the island and hunting animals . At last , they meet a beautiful woman , and other surprises as a bizarre grotto , a skeleton , wildlife : leopard, serpents , a suspect ark and many other things . Along the way they face numerous dangers , risks , treason and pirates .

It results to be a silly but likable Spanish adaptation based on Jules Verne classic novel "Deux ans de vacances". This average and humdrum adaptation is a special version of the Jules Verne adventure yarn titled . There's rip-roaring action , spirit of adventure , derring-do , humor , thrills and results to be briefly entertaining but mediocre . Among the most spectacular of its visuals there are the semi-spectacular scenes in which a child travels at a big kite to survey pirates , and the colorful backgrounds of the island , shot in Calalunyan coasts . It's a slight fun in Eastmancolor with average special effects , passable set decoration , and functional art direction . The fable is bemusing but laughable , and the effects and action are regularly made . Being clumsily realized but the movie has some good moments here and there . Some illogical parts in the plot are more than compensated for the excitement provided by the scenes about the pirate attacks .

Stars the child prodigy Pablito Calvo , here he stands out with his highly expressive face and enormous eyes , innocent as well as angelical countenance , though usually dubbed for his husky voice as a charming child . He was the succesful little boy who in the 50s and 60s starred a lot of hits such as : 1955 Marcelino pan y vino , 1956 Mi tío Jacinto, 1957 Un ángel pasó por Brooklyn , 1958 Totó y Pablito ,1960 Juanito , 1961 Alerta en el cielo , 1962 Dos años de vacaciones and his last film was Barcos de papel . After the international success of Marcelino pan y vino (1955) , he became Spain's most famous child actor along with Joselito . Retired from acting at the age of 16 to become an industrial engineer. His singing voice was always dubbed on screen, in Spain by Matilde Vilariño. And co-stars other children as Pablo Alonso , Miguel Angel Rodríguez , Corrales , and Anibal Vela . Here there are various notorious secondaries in this flick , support actors seen in co-productions of the 60s and 70s such as : Luis Induni , Fernando Rubio , Gaspar Indio Gonzalez and Jose Moreno .This Spanish/Mexican motion picture produced by the powerful producer/director Juan De Orduña was middlingly realized by a prolific Mexican Director , Emilio Gómez Muriel .

Jules Verne has been adapted several times , George Melies immortalized in ¨From Earth to the moon¨in an early and silent film , as the best was ¨Walt Disney' s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea¨ (1954) by Richard Fleischer ; following a stunning movie in which Ray Harryhausen's special effects are one of the treats of ¨L'Ile Mysterieuse" or "The Mysterious Island" by Cry Endfield , this novel was written in1874 ; and ¨In search of the castaways¨ , here the source of this picture is actually "L'École des Robinsons" or "The Robinson School" published in 1882 . A Mexican version and long forgotten recounting titled ¨Eight hundred leagues over the Amazon¨ was made in the 1950s . ¨Michael Strogoff¨ was made into a film in Great Britain in the 1930s with Anton Walbrook and an Italian rendition : Michel Strogoff by Carmine Gallone with Curd Jurgens that went on a sequel titled ¨New adventures of Strogoff¨ ; ¨Five weeks in balloom¨ was made into a comedy adventure with Sir Cedric Hardwicke and Red Button in the 1960s . Besides , the sympathetic ¨The children of captain Grant¨ , ¨Mathias Sandorff¨ with Louis Jourdan and ¨A fifteen-year-old captain¨ 1974 by Jess Frank . And ¨Around the World in 80 Days¨classic version by Michael Anderson with David Niven and Cantinflas , and a recent (2004) by Frank Coraci with Steve Coogan and Jackie Chan ; ¨Journey to the Center of the Earth¨ classic version by Henry Levin with James Mason and a new with Brendan Frazer and many others . What is usually not realized is the lesser known titles that have gotten onto the screen - for Jules Verne wrote nearly 80 novels.
