good low level fun
SnoopyStyle12 January 2020
Larry, Moe, and Shemp run the Cut Throat Drug Store. They invent a youth formula for the pitiful wife of the elderly building owner Amos Flint. The guys turn her into a youthful beauty. Desperate to have the fountain of youth himself, Amos gives the guys the store. Only it goes too far.

This is a pretty good Shemp Stooges short. Most of it goes quite well. In fact, Shemp and even Mrs Flint seems to be doing a little bit of Curly impersonation. There is a bubble gum closing that isn't very connected to the main story. At first, I thought it would be a children's birthday party for Amos Flint. That would connect better. Overall, this is generally good low level fun.

Sika, First Five Minues The Best
ccthemovieman-113 January 2011
The first five minutes of this Three Stooges short has a lot of laughs, more than the next dozen minutes (which was okay, but nothing that great.).

Of course, I've always loved Emil Sitka, who usually plays a crotchety old man who gives-and-takes abuse. He's hilarious in here as "Amos Flint" the owner of a drug store run by The Stooges. He not only plans to kick out the boys but kick out his wife, too, because "she's an ugly, old hag." The Boys give her a room in the back and try to discover a concoction for the "fountain of youth" to help the old woman and make money for themselves.

The rest of the short is basically two long skits - making the formula and then - tacked on after the main story was over a bubblegum skit which was kind of lame.

The soda fountain of youth
bkoganbing19 December 2020
This short subject has the boys who are druggists inventing a potion which will make you young. They're under some pressure because their skinflint of a landlord Emil Sitka wants them out. He also wants to trade in his wife Christine McIntyre on a new model.

They get spectacular results with McIntyre. With Sitka it was an overreach. But using Shemp as a guinea pig, same old Shemp.

On of their best with Shemp.

Easy going fun.

This is probably the calmest, most easy-going of all the Stooge shorts. It is not consistently hilarious, but there are a handful of good laughs, and somehow this is one of the easiest and most entertaining Stooge shorts to watch. Their human kindness is shown when they let an old lady who has been thrown out of her husband's house stay in a spare room in their store. The lady's old age caused her husband to throw her out and the Stooges most kindly go to work on a vitamin to make old people young. In what is one of their few successful projects, the Stooges turn the old lady into a young, gorgeous women (the goddess Christine McIntyre) and then they get revenge on her husband. This short is light-hearted fun, and the Stooges' reaction to McIntyre as she tears off the bottom of her skirt is hilarious. And Shemp's physical reaction when he gets a spoonful of jumping beans amazes me that a 53 year old man could be so physically active. Wow!

Good Three Stooges short!
Movie Nuttball9 March 2005
The Three Stooges has always been some of the many actors that I have loved. I love just about every one of the shorts that they have made. I love all six of the Stooges (Curly, Shemp, Moe, Larry, Joe, and Curly Joe)! All of the shorts are hilarious and also star many other great actors and actresses which a lot of them was in many of the shorts! In My opinion The Three Stooges is some of the greatest actors ever and is the all time funniest comedy team!

One of the most different Three Stooges shorts is All Gummed Up. In this short are Christine McIntyre, Emil Sitka, Symona Boniface, Florence Lake, Cy Schindell, Al Thompson, and Victor Travers. The acting by these actors are good especially by McIntyre and Sitka. There are many funny scenes here that I think most Three Stooges fans will love! In My opinion this one of the most different Three Stooges shorts. There is another similar Three Stooges called Bubble Trouble. I recommend both of these shorts!

Emil Sitka Steals the Show in A Mediocre Stooges Short
abbazabakyleman-988344 November 2019
Emil Sitka was always the glue to hold together a lot of middle-of-the-road Stooge comedies in the later years. The one thing that Sitka didn't like about Jules White was how he always wanted to play his characters in an exaggerated manner, but this was one of the very few times where White allowed Sitka to develop his old man character Amos Flint, the crotchety landlord of the drugstore the Stooges run. Though not given much screen time (save for the beginning and near end), he does add a lot of comedy to an otherwise plain Stooges outing.

Great short, almost a classic
holme-126 October 2001
This short was great, seeing the stooges having to eat their own horrible mixtures of stuff is hilarious! The only thing that prevents this short from becoming a classic is that the ending seemed tacked on and this was fixed in the remake "Bubble Trouble" which isn't nearly as good as this.

The remake is better.
slymusic7 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Directed by Jules White, "All Gummed Up" is a good Three Stooges short that was remade in the 1950s as "Bubble Trouble" (1953). In regard to the latter-day Stooge shorts, many of which are stock footage remakes, the originals are generally regarded as much better than the remakes, but "All Gummed Up" is an exception. Yes, the casting of Emil Sitka (playing crusty old landlord Amos Flint) and Christine McIntyre (playing Mrs. Flint) is fine, and this short utilizes quite a number of gags that are not repeated in the remake. But "All Gummed Up" leaves a dangling thread by placing the "marshmallow jumbo" bubble gum cake scene at the very end, which director Jules White corrected in the remake. Additionally, in "Bubble Trouble" the Stooges' youth serum transforms Mr. Flint into a hilarious talking gorilla, much better than a kid with a beard in "All Gummed Up".

In spite of this film's weaknesses, here are my favorite scenes from it. In addition to the misplaced bubble gum gag, I love how the Stooges do a conga dance to the old rubber boot generating their serum formula, as well as Moe and Larry rapidly pounding Shemp's cranium so that he can reveal his grand idea.
