Colour Flight is another animated abstraction from Len Lye
tavm13 December 2006
Yet another color abstraction from Len Lye (like the previous A Colour Box). The music played during this short is called Honolulu Blues by Red Nichols and his Five Pennies. With various silhouettes of planes flying by and the words "Imperial Airways" printed constantly at the end with, I'm thinking, its various slogans, I'm thinking this is one of those early commercials for movie theatres or at least a product placement deal that may surprise anyone who thinks those were recent creations (Product placement occurred as early as the Melies shorts of the 1900s). Whatever the deal, Len Lye has put another entertaining animated short of music and color abstraction. I guess I'll go back to YouTube to watch another Len Lye masterpiece...
