You can't always get what you want

James Franco shines as Jake Epping, the teacher reluctantly tasked to change the future of the world. Will it be possible for him to travel to the past and save JFK?

His friend Al gives him detailed instructions on how to navigate the past; the most important bit of info being "Do not get involved with anybody", but how can Jake resist beautiful Sadie? Sarah Gadon is also very good as the fragile but determined librarian who will help changing the course of history.

At first I was surprised when the plot turned more into a bittersweet romance between Jake and Sadie, but then I embraced their story because the two actors are believable and have chemistry.

As in every time travel story there are plenty of plot holes, the most annoying for me being the unpredictable way the Past "pushed" back, sometimes way too forceful, sometimes not at all. The random nature of the interventions made the viewing disconcerting... for example, what was need to "punish" the son of the woman renting rooms in Dallas?

It was as if there was a need to create an antagonist, as if the plot was otherwise going to be "too easy" and the only idea was to have a generic force called the Past... anyhow, it's a terrific show and I enjoyed it immensely.
