1920's True Mystery/Comedy

Warning: Spoilers
I saw Wicked Little Letters, starring Olivia Colman-Wonka, The Crown_tv; Jessie Buckley-Fargo_tv, Dolittle; Timothy Spall-the Harry Potter movies, The Last Samurai and Anjana Vasan-Killing Eve_tv, Spider_Man: Far From Home.

This is a mystery/comedy that is based on a true story. It takes place in 1920's England. Olivia is a strongly religious person-her father makes her read bible passages everyday-that starts receiving letters filled with profanity, calling her names and suggesting that she put things into her body parts that don't normally go there. Timothy plays Olivia's strict father who blames Jessie-their next door neighbor-because Jessie is an immigrant from Ireland that uses lots of foul mouthed language in her daily life and she is not married but is raising a daughter, who also uses profanities. Jessie denies sending the letters to Olivia but Timothy keeps accusing Jessie of the dirty deeds-done dirt cheap-and even calls child services on Jessie. Things end up in court and Anjana plays a female cop that thinks Jessie is innocent.

It's rated R for language and sexual content-including partial nudity-and has a running time of 1 hour & 40 minutes.

I enjoyed it enough that I would probably buy it on DVD.
