The Fall Guy (2024)
8/10
Comedy and stuntmen everywhere....

7.9/10 (8) (Highly Recommend)

This was a much different, and better, movie than I expected. What the trailer depicts and what you see appear to be two different things, but that may have changed since its release. I loved the whole behind-the-scenes feel of the movie within a movie. Don't let the two hour runtime scare you as the film has 90% good pacing. It has an energy I wasn't fully expecting especially with Ryan Gosling. Luckily this wasn't some sappy love story, but a comedy action film that entertains and makes you laugh.

While I feel all Gosling-ed out he's still relatively enjoyable in this film. I wasn't as impressed with his performance as I was with Emily Blunt's. Emily was enjoyable and brought great energy to her role. Together they were funny and had great chemistry together. It took me slightly too long to realize Hannah Weddingham was in the film, but she was hilarious and a good addition to the cast.

The film is action packed and pays a decent tribute to the stunt community. It brings a small perspective to small community you might not think of otherwise. It plays well on the life of a stuntman minus the whole sa.... Never mind, that might be a spoiler. Anyways, I loved the behind-the-scenes and seeing how a shot is done. This isn't a spoiler, stay tuned for the credits as it shows behind-the-scenes shots of stunts done in the film.

Overall, this is a film I would watch again especially in theatres if it wasn't so expensive. While it can feel a little long at times the two hour runtime isn't bad. The acting is good, but the cinematography is amazing. Solid songs make up the score, and the references to other movies are a hoot, if you get them. Highly recommend checking this one out in theatres if you can make it happen.

That's it for now. Thanks for taking time to read my review. Happy watching and enjoy the show!
