I'll give two reviews. Spoiler and non-spoiler.
First the non-spoiler review- Story: The story is great in the beginning and it actually hyped me when I saw more and more episodes. But after around the 15th or 17th episode it became... less interesting.
Characters: The main characters were good. Just good not any better. Let's just say I liked Mahiro waaaaaaay more than Yoshino. Hakaze would have been better if she wasn't so overconfident. I like Evangeline a lot, probably she and Mahiro are my favourite characters.
Animation/Art Style/Art Quality: 10/10 Importance of each episode: I guess more than 94% of all of its 24 episodes contribute to the plot.
Now, the spoiled review: Story: As I said above, it's great at the start and less great in the end. It had plot holes. The gun talisman was just given up. It seemed too important and powerful but they never even used. Also the plot kept shifting and shifting. The one that WE focused on at the beginning changed, just like that. Also, at least for me, it was too predictable. I predicted how Hakaze would come back to the present from her island prison. I predicted that Aika committed suicide.
Characters: Good, not any better. Evangeline and Mahiro were my favourites. Hakaze, as I said above, was overconfident. I would have liked her if not for two things: Her aforementioned over confidence and her falling for Yoshino.
In the end, I would say this anime is not without flaws, but if you keep a list of animes to watch (as I do) then you can binge watch it.
P. S., though this anime came 11-12 years ago, I only came to know it's existence some three years ago, and I included it in my list 5 months ago. And watched it and finished in the last two days. Overall, it's neither good, nor bad. It's just ok.
I guess such animes are liked by audience if that audience is anime-only. They need to read the mangas and/or light novels, too.
