Again this is one of those classics that is overated , superb cast - brando, sheen, duvall , hopper, and a young laurence fishburne , there is also a small role, cameo even for harrison ford which comes across as odd after the success of star wars , ok the film is
Well directed the acting , cinematography , settings ; which is an authentic depiction of the vietnam war , the acting peformances are on par but some of the characters are too upeat and over charactarised for the situation they are in, so to me the film feels uneven slightly in tone ,it fails to feel as gritty as say platoon or FMJ, and i prefer the tone of the latter, you have to admit this movie is boring and aimless in some spells and the final showdown between sheen and brando although well acted is disapointing and anti climatic, sorry to all the fans of this classic , but as a whole i dont think this movie is entetaining enough to be great.
