The slice of life method used in this series is so wonderful. Like the other reviewer said, this is a series of small, but significant moments where each character has to deal with a momentary crisis. The big one is Miguel standing up to his boss after Jack is fired for making a glaring mistake, costing the company a bundle. He sticks his neck out an solidifies their friendship. Keven comes to Randall's rescue when he has a minor crisis (huge to him) at school. It shows he can back off and maintain family loyalty. Kate and Toby clash because he has been working out and she is putting on more weight. Each seems insignificant except to the person who is down.
