In one word, brilliant.

I've enjoyed every episode thus far, but there was something extra-good about "Part Five". There is tension and drama in great supply, and the battle scenes in this episode might be the best of the entire show to this point.

I guess an unavoidable pitfall of Masters of the Air compared to Band of Brothers and The Pacific is that all the Bloody Hundredth's mission are basically the same (unlike the Marines and paratroopers who fought in different locations) but nonetheless, the brilliant CGI is breathtaking. What a production. No show has come close to portraying WW2 air crews like Masters of the air.

You can only shake your head in admiration at the bravery of the Flying Fortress crews who flew through insane amounts of flak only to be assaulted by German fighters afterwards. I can't imagine the horror of battle, surrounded by the enemy far from home. This episode does a good job of portraying the psychological affect that these unending missions put on the crews. The greatest generation, indeed.
