Ezekiel and Carol lead a supply run for a trade fair that will ensure their survival. They retrieve supplies and a projector bulb for their movie theatre. Meanwhile, Hilltop's confrontation with Alpha heightens when she offers to trade Alden and Luke for Lydia. The Whisperers even abandon a baby after it can't be silenced whom the Hilltoppers rescue.

Knowing Alpha won't let up, Daryl is forced to give up Lydia despite Henry's wishes. After returning to her mother, Alpha slaps her and demands that she call her "Alpha" like the others. Later that night, Henry goes after Lydia, causing Daryl and Connie, a deaf survivor, to follow him.

"Bounty" focuses on the aftermath of Lydia's capture by the survivors and the tension that arises as the communities prepare for a potential conflict with the Whisperers. The episode explores themes of morality and leadership, as Michonne and Daryl grapple with the decision of what to do with Lydia. One of the most intense scenes is when Alpha infiltrates the Hilltop to demand the return of her daughter, showcasing her ruthless and uncompromising nature. "Bounty" sets the stage for a confrontation between the communities and the Whisperers, as both sides prepare to defend their own.

The episode also examines the theme of sacrifice, as the survivors must decide what they are willing to risk in order to protect their own. This theme of sacrifice underscores the survivors' commitment to protecting their way of life, even at great personal cost.
