I really tried to be excited for this season based on the trailer and all the episodes up to 4. I gave this show so many chances, I looked past all the main complaints of season one cause to me it was just halo before the games. But these brain dead writers somehow wrote themselves into a corner 2 seasons in a row, and really, really need to be fired. Alot of this series felt so rushed that it doesn't make sense when they also added so much pointless stuff to it to compensate. I don't know how bad you have to do that in a show that literally already has a damn blueprint made for it that literally everyone loves.
For instance they killed mackee in season 1 which made all the sense cause she wasnt in any books or games. Well now shes back, no explanation for how ever given.
They faked Halsey's death in season 1 for like...no reason and no one seems even shocked how she keeps showing up all over the place in season 2 so no real point there ever given.
UNSC kidnap a kid that kwan abandoned to make spartan 2's when theyd already started making spartan 3's and that whole side arc was spent basically getting him back and all that ended up accomplishing was nothing but sorens wife dying.
Their most illogical monkey-like idea? They literally skimmed over the fall of reach! How!? How does any writer even think of something that stupid?
Reach is sacred and could have been the entire season and everyone would have loved it. But they did the equivalent of killing it off screen... one episode dedicated to the fall of reach and then they kill it of screen.
Also stupid but a less egregious degree, they seemed to have removed all covenant races for the galaxy except elites and jackals. Never saw any of the grunts, leaders, or brutes at all this season.
They released the flood in the stupidest of ways and did it way earlier for no reason. It was as terrifying as I was hoping it would be but so outside the scope of the games that it feels like theyre now just going to skip the entire events of the first game altogether which would be worse than what those idiot writers did to reach.
They spent way too much time in meaningless stuff in this season and still somehow made the stuff that was meaningful feel rushed. Wanna know how to not make episodes feel rushed? Write out the pointless stuff you added. How hard of a concept is that!
They had one space battle in a season involving the fall of reach, of course it didnt occur over reach and of course somehow made most of it off screen. I'm fairly certain the UNSC ships didnt even fire any shots which would be par for the course.
Ive never written a review before after a decade of using this site but this was a capital offense. Everything in this show started unraveling after that.
They can say its a silver timeline all they want but its a cop out. They just suck at writing and it sucks worse cause they had everything at their disposal, a literal blueprint to not screw this up and they somehow did. It's like they are actively trying to get this show cancelled and I cant figure out why but at this point paramount would be better off firing these chimps, hire actual human beings or even AI would be better and just retcon the entire second season.
