A sombre Diagnosis Murder
8 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big fan of Diagnosis Murder, and I've seen most of the episodes, but I've had much difficulty locating the first of the two post-series movies, Town Without Pity, which was largely filmed in Piru, where in fact serves as the location for many movies and TV series. Anyway, Town Without Pity is quite sombre, dark, and reflects the feelings some had following the events on 11 September 2001. Faran Tahir guest stars as Antoine Fahd, who is newly married to Mark's daughter Carol, who by happenstance is played by Stacy Van Dyke, the daughter of Dick Van Dyke, who plays Mark. I was so saddened that Antoine and Carol were murdered by the town leader.

One ambiguous plot point was the circumstances surrounding the death of Annie Castro, played by Sevanne Kassarjian. Interestingly, I saw the British movie Hot Fuzz today, and the small village setting with police corruption and all was similar to Town Without Pity.
