Accept the fact that a TV show will never be a 1:1 adaptation of the game. Otherwise, it would be canceled after the first season.
A TV show with bombs dropping in every episode, faceless heros killing without a single dent, won't survive either. We need character progression and this is exactly what this episode is. Some call it filler, but as long as it progresses characters that are actually important, the episode isn't less important than the rest. I enjoyed it as it is quite emotional and ties up some loose ends.
I did NOT play halo and it never really appealed to me, but I must say that I love the show and especially season 2. Whoever wants to see invincible heros in armor all day, go watch power Rangers.
