I have had this movie on VHS since the early 1990's. This movie is sweet, difficult and heart wrenching. Bette Midler, someone who I'm actually not too fond of, plays a stellar role as Stella. The poor, single, quirky waitress who just wants to be happy and she is for the most part. The moment she is handed her daughter who she's not even sure she's going to keep yet, is one of the most tender moments in this story. She keeps the baby and provides a happy and loving, all be it poor life for her daughter Jenny. Even when her father comes back into her life after 3 years and never having met Jenny, Stella sees the happiness he will bring to Jenny and do she allows and encourages a relationship between Jenny and her Daddy.
This movie puts me in my feels even 34 years later. It's very worth the watch in my opinion. "I've just got to see her face. Let me see her face!" I don't think you'll be disappointed.
