David, as a detective, had a source and used her affectively. This is something that any detective worth his salt would do. In doing so he brought criminals to justice, notoriety to the Blue Moon Detective Agency, not to mention making the agency profitable and giving the staff something to do besides sit around snd read the paper! So there is no reason for Maddie to be angry or act like David is less of a detective for this.
Overall the episode is pretty good, with David and Toby having really good chemistry together (makes you wish they could have developed her character more and maybe used her in other episodes)!
