In Echo, Maya Lopez battles Wilson Fisk's criminal empire, believing he is dead. However, Fisk's relationship with his adopted niece is highlighted in the fourth episode, which is quieter and more interpersonally focused. Vincent D'Onofrio stars as Fisk, showcasing his return to form as the Kingpin of New York City, a character he battled in Daredevil. D'Onofrio is intimidating and domineering, exuding moments of hurt and care that hint at his troubled childhood. The episode could have been longer, as it sets the stage for the climax and finale in episode five. The episode features two emotional interactions for Maya involving Chula and Fisk, which mirror each other. While it works in providing a juxtaposition, it may have been better to have an additional episode or two to emphasize these interactions instead of rushing to the next scene. The screenplay of Echoes is a mix of murder mystery, thriller, and psychological chiller, with a chaotic and wild nature. The story begins with Leni calling out for Mattie, who is okay and heads off to say goodbye to her aunt. Charlie leaves, and Gina is presumed to be out of their lives forever. Leni is concerned about her sister's return. In the morning, a bush fire appears, but Jack and Leni go to check it out. It turns out to be a burning body, possibly belonging to Dylan James. Floss, a detective, points out that the body and truck were deliberately moved, and Dylan had a knife wound across his stomach, indicating he was killed before the truck was burned. Floss is suspicious of both Leni and Jack, who were both involved in the murder, but both are prime suspects due to their actions. The story continues to unfold, with the characters exploring the mysteries surrounding the murder. Jack admits to cutting his finger due to a disagreement with Towers and Payne, who owed him money. He threatens Leni and Mattie, but hasn't paid back the debts. Victor calls Leni to return home, but Jack is taken away. Evidence suggests Jack is the culprit, and ketamine is found in the truck. Leni's father blames her. A call from the hospital informs them that Leni has shown up, but it's Gina playing mind games again. Gina is gone, pulling out the IV and bolting. The tensions between the characters escalate as Jack's debts and stress pile up. Leni apologizes to Jack at the police station and learns about the family's financial troubles. Jack, a good friend, tried to get on Towers and Payne's good side, but the family fell into debt. They agree to speak the truth about stealing the horse and expressing innocence to Dylan's death. Gina claims that Towers and Payne are responsible for Dylan's death and after her. She urges Leni to meet Grandma Georgia at her house to protect her sister. Georgia is injured and tries to get Leni to hand over the 60k to them. However, Towers and Payne are unfriendly and consider using Leni as a bargaining chip. Leni manages to get herself out of trouble, pointing out that Jack is in the police station and could rat them out.

That night, Floss pulls Leni over and she is put under arrest for murdering Dylan. It turns out that Gina has been helping the police, including framing Leni. The police have pictures of Leni paying off Towers and Payne and the whereabouts for the murder weapon. The blade was found under the front seat of her car, raising questions about her true responsibility or if she has been set up.
