MAESTRA: Strings of Truth (dramanice.la). 01/19/24. 10/10 You don't have to be a lover of classical music to like this series. Just watching my favorite Korean actress, Lee Young Ae (whom I fell in love with in Saimbang, Light's Diary) is worth 12 hours of my life! She did not disappoint here...powerful, steely-cold, showed the emotions through her eyes and heart, true acting!! One would believe that she truly IS a conductor of a professional orchestra! Her violin "playing" was so believable that I would love to know how much work she put in to convince us that she does it in real life. BRAVA!! Actor Lee Moo Saeng played the perfect man-in-an-unrequited-love role. I cried for him so many times. I wished for JUST ONE kiss from her...but not to be. The other main characters were all terrific and VERY convincing in their roles of orchestral players. The writing was very good! It exposed the many conflicts and hard work that goes behind the lives of professional musicians. Like the USA, they also have a Union to protect their jobs. Of course, what is a Kdrama without underlying ulterior motifs, romantic innuendos, detectives and murders?! So enjoyable! The music was amazing! The choices of cllassical pieces were not cheesy and commercial. But, why do some vocalists sing in Korean and BAD English? Cringe! Overall, great series and a MUST-WATCH!
