19 January 2024
**Director:** Bratya Basu **Cast:** Mosharraf Karim, Rupa Bhattacharjee, Arindam Chatterjee, Indranil Sengupta **My rating:** 8/10

Hubba, directed by Bratya Basu and starring Bangladeshi actor Mosharraf Karim, is a crime drama based on the life of Hubba Shyamal, a notorious gangster from Hooghly.

The film begins in 1975 Hooghly, a town that was once a hotbed of crime. Hubba Bimal is a small-time thug who slowly but surely rises to power and becomes a feared gangster. He is responsible for the deaths of many people.

The film spans Hubba Bimal's entire life. We see his childhood, his rise to gangsterdom, his time at the top of his power, and ultimately his downfall.

The film's characters are all well-developed. Mosharraf Karim gives an outstanding performance as Hubba Bimal. He brings the character to life in a realistic and believable way. Rupa Bhattacharjee, Arindam Chatterjee, and Indranil Sengupta are all also excellent in their roles.

The film's story is good, but it may be a bit slow for viewers who are used to commercial films. The film is quite slow-paced, and the second half in particular can be quite slow-moving. Some viewers may even walk out before the film is over.

The acting is all top-notch, but Mosharraf Karim's performance is the standout. He brings the character to life in a way that is both realistic and believable. His performance is so good that it feels like he is actually Hubba Bimal.

Overall, Hubba is a well-made film. However, it is not a commercial film. So, if you are a fan of slow-paced, character-driven films, then this is a good option for you.

**Positives:**

* Excellent acting, especially by Mosharraf Karim * Well-developed characters * Interesting story

**Negatives:**

* Slow pacing * May not be to the taste of viewers who prefer commercial films.
