A fine overlooked film noir ,and a forerunner of Samuel Fuller's " shock corridor" (1963) in which a journalist entered an insane asylum to unmask a murderer.
Here the journalist,a woman, hires a private eye to do the job because she's convinced that a corrupt criminal judge is in hiding in a sanitarium .But even when you are in the place ,there are rooms where the patients are not allowed to venture. Besides ,dangerous inside persons are confined in this ward.
Good suspense , in which the trick of the photograph is very smart; Besides , the female part is not decorative ,for she plays a prominent part and even comes to the rescue of the guy in trouble .
