The third episode of Slow Horses offers answers to fans' questions about the team who kidnapped Catherine Standish and who hired them. However, the story is more than just a ruse by the tiger team. The twists and turns continue with blackmail, double-crossing, and scheming from the titular tigers. It turns out that MI5's Grey Books, MI5's dossier on conspiracy theories, was their true aim as they divert from their plan with Standish still in their grip. The show, directed by Mick Herron, introduces James 'Spider' Webb as a familiar face to confront River Cartwright and co about the success of the sting operation. This transition gives Spider a more prominent role. The show's strengths include the perfect casting of the Slow Horses, and the clever pairing of Shirley Dander and Marcus Lonridge, who share fine chemistry and offset each other's issues. The show makes Catherine's plight relatable and makes the characters' lives a reason to care for each other. The political ramifications of recent events are explored through Peter Judd's masterminding of First Desk Ingrid Tierney's decision to leave her position. The influence of Westminster and MI5 is a key thread throughout the show. Slow Horses is a smart, fun, and enjoyable espionage show that brings Mick Herron's source material to the small screen. The climax sets up a whirlwind for the characters to confront to prevent the Tigers from accessing the Grey Books. The show continues to impress with its charm, wit, and suspense. In Slow Horses Season 3 Episode 3, "Negotiating with Tigers," the tiger team reveals their ultimate goal of obtaining the gray books, which are books detailing conspiracy theories MI5 has debunked. The gray books reveal that Alison was killed by the person she handed over the files to, and they were seemingly on opposite sides. The details of Donovan and Alison's "missions" remain unknown. The details of Alison's death are not particularly interesting, but Slow Horses may surprise us. It's possible that the tiger team had ulterior motives for taking Catherine or targeting Slough House. Spider, a beloved employee at the Park, often brought fun drama or laughs, which is evident in "Negotiating with Tigers." Spider's involvement could have been a secret, but Donovan and company didn't disclose it to Spider. Spider's acting debut is hilarious and typical of his character, who orchestrated a tiger team attack. The juxtaposition of Spider's "victory" speech with the severity of River and Louisa makes the scene even better. Spider's death is shocking and adds intensity to the case, revealing Donovan's out of control and making him a scary opponent. Although his death doesn't hit emotional notes, it adds to the intensity of the case and makes him a less beloved main character.
