Review of Vigilante

Vigilante (2023– )
6/10
Crimes should be punished by crimes. Because this is my calling. The calling that's perfect for me: to become a devil to kill other devils...

I am obsessed with the premise of this series! What a powerful statement and what a sad reality that the law is so flawed that many times it protects criminals rather than victims.

And after watching Moving and The Worst of Evil I have to say I got a bit excited seeing the announcement of Vigilante. I expected too much and then the disappointment hit. There is nothing wrong with using the same old antihero revenge concept if you are bringing something new fresh and intriguing but this wasn't it AT ALL.

If you are like me and absolutely adore series like Daredevil, Dexter, The Punisher, Taxi Driver etc... this one will feel like a bunch of predictable clichés, at best.

Don't get me wrong, the series is well made, the action and fight choreography is excellent, pace is fast and engaging, plot is good and acting is top notch but every single scene and character felt like a cheap remake of something we have seen many times before.

Regarding the actors, two to mention:

Nam Joo Hyuk nailed his of the Vigilante in a more mature and emotional role before his enlistment, you can also notice how hard he has trained and transformed physically for this, amazing work.

And Yoo Ji Tae who I am used to watch in more candid roles like When My love Blooms or even Healer) and surprised me a lot with this rough and militant character.

Overall If you haven't watched many antihero revenge series you will absolutely love this one, if you have, skip this one, it will bore you to death.
