Play button, the Cannon logo appears, great. Another one of those inimitable journeys through time. The film starts, a manhunt intro with obvious costume hire fans. Cheesy but entertaining, so it can go on. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite make it, because Avenging Force takes itself seriously. Follow-up sequence with an ideal-world contrast, cowboy Dudikoff in soft-focus glamour. Then finally the reunion with the marvellous Steve James and the proclamation of the core theme, a clear edge against racism.
The film is now well advanced, but where is the much-touted action spectacle? Short flashes in the pan. Where is the man with the special abilities, the weapon incarnate? It's not Dudikoff. How scary are the hunters? Not at all.
I bring the strip to the finish moderately entertained. Probably one of those cases of: I should have seen it at the time, the rediscovery only works to a limited extent. And I probably won't become a big Dudikoff fan either, I've now seen all the supposed gems.
