Review of Hitch Hike

Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Hitch Hike (1960)
Season 5, Episode 21
10/10
BOYS WILL BE BOYS... WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Another gem directed by Paul Henreid, getting some fine performances here. 10 Stars.

This was a very early role for Suzanne Pleshette (as Anne), the wayward niece of John McIntire, who seems more concerned about his upstanding reputation as a city councilman? Anne, who apparently got herself in some trouble, gets a solid dressing down from the old man, that is until they pick up juvenile delinquent poster child Robert Morse (as Len). Now the fun begins.

As expected, there's a bumpy ride ahead and what an ironic ending... Wait and see. An episode to remember.

No question Hitch had plans for Suzanne Pleshette, who at the time was gaining in popularity on many tv shows. She had an oustanding role in ONE STEP BEYOND, prior to this episode. He cast her as the ill-fated school teacher in THE BIRDS (1963), and the rest is history. She is missed, both by movie and tv fans.

Likewise, an early role for Robert Morse, a dynamic comedy and dramatic actor, best known for HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Robert passed in 2022 at the age of 90.

Top writing by Bernard Schoenfeld, who wrote 16 prime episodes for the series, best known for the classic women's prison film, CAGED.

Must See TV. SEASON 5 EPISODE 21 remastered Universal dvd box set. 5 dvd set. Released 2012.
