Honestly very disappointing how the german version can fumble the ball and miss the point of the book entirely. Apart from the visuals (it is gorgeous) this a hollow shell of what it should have been. It lacks heart, character and all the best parts of the book. Instead we get some lazy hollywood action type stuff. Smoke and Mirrors, Bombs and Tanks to hide the shallowness of it all.
Spoilers: Why do we skip Training? Never learn anything meaningful about any Character? Where is the part where Paul is send home for a while and sees the horrors of the Hospital and the disconnect of the common people? Whats with this stupid idea of a literal last minute charge?
Worst of all what happend to "All quiet on the western Front"??? Paul was supposed to die on such a quiet day it didn't even matter. No big battle. Just tough luck. A stray bullet. Who knows?
Go watch the 1930s or 70s version or honestly just read the book. Better than whatever this is...
