Review of Occupation

Battlestar Galactica: Occupation (2006)
Season 3, Episode 1
8/10
Well, this is depressing...

Following on from the events of the final episode of Season 2, New Caprica is now under Cylon control. Colonel Tigh is leading a small resistance band but has been captured and tortured. Baltar continues as President, though now a puppet one. Starbuck is a prisoner in a gilded cage. Galactica, Pegasus and the fleet are safe and are waiting for an opportune time to return to New Caprica.

A big comedown after the action and freedom we experienced for the previous two seasons. I always expected the series to be about the last surviving humans escaping from the Cylons and heading towards Earth but now we have the opposite. Most humans are captives of the Cylons and what forces are free are ineffectual.

It just gets worse and worse: Starbuck a prisoner of a creepy human-form Cylon, Tigh tortured, everyone with limited freedom, Galactica and Pegasus unable to make a return due to the overwhelming forces arrayed against them. And, just as a final insult, Appollo is obese!

The only way from here is up, I guess.
