Jesus. If you want to see an appropriate sci-fi musical from a TV show watch Brigadoom from LEXX. This was absurd. Paul Wesley was having Vampire Diaries-level monologues with Christina Chong, filled with close-ups and angst.
The ENTIRE episode is about singing your FEELINGS out. Exactly what fans do not want and criticize Discovery for doing too much of.
This season has not been as strong as the first. I understand they are trying to change things up and be episodic but these swings need to be bolder, not reductive. This is Star Trek, not Buffy.
Hopefully S3 can pick things up. SNW needs some edge.
