Imagine a man so prideful that he chose to murder his wife and children rather than be revealed as a failure. Xavier was on the brink of bankruptcy as his meticulous plan took shape. Drugged the family. Shot them dead in their sleep with his late father's rifle (silencer equipped). Buried them in a prepared "crypt" beneath a balcony on the terrace, and fled to escape justice.

While Xavier clearly expected it to take much longer for the bodies to be found, the police returned again and again until the carefully concealed bodies of family and dogs were discovered.

The escape must have been as carefully planned as the murders, for the killer has never been found. Cargo ship? Boat ride? Train trip? A decade after the murders the truth may never be known. This was an especially haunting episode. Best of the season, imo. Owning up to one's failures is courageous. Murdering one's family is cowardly. Here's hoping the killer is found in time to be tried, convicted, sentenced, and jailed.
