Between Cascais and Curral de Moinas
29 July 2023
The duo João Paulo Rodrigues and Pedro Alves, better known as Quim Roscas and Zeca Estacionâncio, emerged as a successful television phenomenon, with amusing short stories evocative of rurality in the Portuguese north, on a morning talk show.

From this success were born two television series, Telerural and Portugal Tal & Qual, as well as two feature films, Sete Pecados Rurais, in 2013, and this Banqueiros do Povo, in 2022.

Always with arguments by Henrique Cardoso Dias and Frederico Pombares, the humor of the duo Roscas and Estacionâncio does not excel in sophistication. It is a popular parody of what is most simple and provincial about Portugal, which has always been the key to success.

It is in this same line that this Banqueiros do Povo appears, which brings nothing new, but which is nonetheless funny and fully corresponds to the expectations of fans of the genre.

Perhaps the best joke in the film is to see TV presenter Júlia Pinheiro playing the duo's peasant godmother.
